Any healthy couple needs to have serious fights. But our fighting style is so ridiculously methodical, we rarely ever end up saying things we don't mean or allowing the fight to drag on for much longer than necessary. We usually start by explaining why we're mad and what we're feeling, give specific and concrete examples of what the other person did to make us mad (rather than saying, "You made me FEEL this way" we say "You did THIS [insert specific detail here] and that made me feel like this [insert vague emotion]"), and brainstorm how we can avoid or deal with a similar situation in the future. Usually after that's all been said and done, we both feel great and move on. Sometimes it'll take a bit more talking it out to fully feel like we're on the same page, but Dave is really great about repeating back to me everything I'm feeling and explaining what he's going to do in the future to make it better -- and he, 9 times out of 10, follows through. While I do my part to be as logical and reasonable as possible and never treat our fights like I'm trying to win. We fight for each other, not against each other.

To be honest, I don't know the exact measurements. But I know that in Forever 21 jeans, I was wearing a size 28 before and now I wear a size 26 (which I believe is a size 5 regularly).

I don't know what else I would have gone with. That's why I went with Stuck with Pins. ;)

(Continued) I'm modest about my own work, but I have been practicing and learning new techniques for about 7 years and I do it because I like photography, not just money. Have you come across any similar issues and what are your thoughts on it?

Personally, I would rather see people charging ridiculously high prices for crappy work than continue to have these amateurs undercutting my prices. I could go on a whole rant about this, but if you're offering a photography service and charging significantly less than others in your industry, then you are setting the standard and expectation for clients that this dirt cheap price is what they should always have to pay for photography. Because amateurs go around charging 50 bucks a shoot (regardless of the quality of the final product), people think ALL photography services should cost them $50 and professionals like myself (people who have been getting paid to do this for years and have invested thousands of dollars into our profession) then have to struggle to make a living off our trade. If you just want to practice photography as a hobby -- that's fine. But don't call yourself an "aspiring photographer" and charge $25 for a portrait session. By doing that, you ruin this industry for the rest of us and you tarnish your own worth.

It definitely goes get to be too much sometimes. But I know it's important so I stick it through. I'm also a bit of a glutton for stress and overworking myself so... yeah.

Pretty often. We probably see each other at least 5 times out of the week. He works full time and my days are kept busy by going to class and freelancing full-time, but we make time to hang out at the end of the day whether it's going out, having dinner with each other's families, or just catching up on some of our tv shows.

My own personal sites are hosted at my own site via GoDaddy. For all my other clients pages, they're responsible for hosting their own images, either through their own paid host or a free image hosting site like Photobucket.

I don't use Dreamweaver for any of my web development. All my layouts are designed in Photoshop and hand coded in Notepad.

Freelancing is my only job. I've never had a "real" job in my life. However, I still live at home and don't pay rent, so we'll see if this "job" can suffice when I move out...

I have a set starting rate that I work at based on a standard hourly rate of $25 an hour. This doesn't mean I charge $25 for an hour shoot. There's a lot more that goes into a photoshoot. I also take into consideration how much consultation time I spend discussing the shoot with the client; how long it takes me to get to our shooting location and back (including additional fees for travel expenses to cover gas and wear-and-tear on my vehicle); and how many hours I spend editing the select images included in their photo package (additional images are billed at about $15 an hour). I also factor in convenience fees like owning my own equipment so my client doesn't have to compensate for rental fees, and conveniently storing and archiving all of the RAW images on my harddrive so my client can rest assured that their images will always be safe somewhere. And lastly, I consider the amount of experience and know-how I'm bringing to the table worth factoring into my total price (you can take the risk of paying some kid $50 for him to practice his aspiring photography skills and cross your fingers that you get a decent image out of it, or you can pay someone who has the experience and clientele to guarantee you'll get a handful of great images to work with).

A summary of the services, the client's rights to the material, my maintained rights to the material, an outline of how the images can and can't be used, a summary of the payment plan, potential additional fees, etc. Contracts are almost always a work in progress as you encounter different situations working with different people. For me, it's all a learning experience and the changes I've made to my contract over the years definitely reflects that.

They email me their ideas, we brainstorm, work out a price, invoice and sign contracts, draw up their design, send previews, make any necessary changes, then send a high resolution image of the final drawing.

I don't usually make resolutions, but a few things have been on my mind for bettering myself in the new year. I want to work on pursuing people more and being a more consistent friend. And I'd like to come up with a better mechanism for dealing with stress (I let stress have way too much control over me in 2011).
