Well do you know what I got quite lucky in that having no degree in marketing/pr and some experience at a Music PR company I managed to land my job based on the strength of my own blog. If i proved I could start something from scratch and build it up to X amount of hits, X amount of followers, tweetbacks etc, that proves more than anything. I think you just have to prove within the field you're going into, if you're passionate about the industry you can make a change to their marketing strategy. I absolutely LOVE my job and wouldn't trade it for the world. I wish you all the best of luck! :)
