Moving into our new house! I cannot wait :)))) It's been an idea and in the process of being built for so long now, I cannot believe that very soon we'll be able to live in it.

I've been umming and ahing over this for quite some time. The younger you get it, the milder the symptoms. I think if I had a 12 year-old who hadn't had it yet, then I'd vaccinate - teens and adults can get it really bad. Are you and your hubbie immune?
I dn't think I'd ever intentionally give my child the chicken pox though. I hated it myself and would have a guilty conscience.

I would explain what they were doing in an age-appropriate way. Probably something along the lines of they love each other very much and if the're lucky they might have a baby tortoise. I don't believe in hiding life from your kids, just choosing how much graphic info they can cope with at a given age. I wouldn't hang around for ages watching though either. I'd probably suggest something else to look at after explaining. I think that was a terrible message for the mother to give her daughter. Sorry to be crass, but it makes me wonder what her sex life is like - poor thing!
