Saint Michael's College is a wet campus. Our official policy is that if you are of legal drinking age and live in apartment style housing on campus then you are able to drink responsibily. Once you are able to legally drink there are also many places to go in downtown Burlington.
Most students spend their weekend nights at SMC so there are at least 1500 students who are hanging out together on the weekends. Saint Michael's College is always wonderful and there are many people to spend time with, it's the only school I know that grills food for its students in the quad from 11-1 am on friday and saturday night.
There are many events that are planned by the RAs and RDs on campus. Each week we receive an email outlining all the weekend events for SMC and the surrounding Burlington area. Trust me, you will never be bored at SMC on a weekend night. There is always something to do with some wonderful people!

It really depends on the course that you choose and what you are involved in. If you run cross country in the fall, it may be better to go in the spring. Students typically choose to study abroad in their junior year but some go the spring of their sophomore year or fall of senior year.
It is very important to sit down and look at your personal plan for graduation and make a decision from there. There are also always study abroad programs in the summer, if that works better for you!

Personally, I feel that studying abroad was a wonderful experience that everyone should take advantage of if they are in the position to do so. It is certainly a lot to commit to but it is well worth it. St Mike's strongly encourages students to go abroad and the community is all very proud of the large percentage of students who go abroad. I am aware that not everyone is in the position to go for an entire semester but I have had many friends who went on summer or winter break international trips!
I love St Mike's very much and I missed this place and my friends very much but I never regretted being Ireland for a single moment. If you have the chance to go abroad-do it. SMC is a wonderful experience even without a semester abroad but I really strongly urge anyone to go abroad.
You do miss out on certain activities but when you come back here, it is just as wonderful!

Students do not need cars in Burlington by any means! Burlington is wonderful with transportation. We are able to use the transportation system for free with our knight cards. This makes it very easy to get in and out of town.
If you are ever looking to get to another city or town, the easiest solution is to place and add on knightspace especially if it is in regards to getting home for the holidays.
Trust me, you can survive at Saint Michael's COMFORTABLY without a car!

The official policy at St. Mike's is that only have guests of the same gender are allowed to be registered to stay in your room. But we are treated like adults here so people are able to have their boyfriend/girlfriend stay over. The most important thing is that you talk to your roommate and make sure they are comfortable with any guest you are going to have. It is something I would talk about early on so that you are on the same page!

I loved all my roommates! I have had three because I did move out of my room freshman year. But my first roommate and I stayed close and have lunch every thursday. I do not think I could survive without her. My second roommate and I only lived together for about a month but she is one of my best friends at school and the one who always goes on adventures with me. And my roommate this year Eileen and I chose to live together and I loved it! Different people live well together for different reasons but honestly you do not know how you are going to live with someone until you actually do.

I would suggest taking the test. All it takes is some time but it may save you give you some extra credit going into freshman year. Even if you want to take another language, it will automatically fulfill your language requirement if you pass, which makes filling your schedule easier. Plus, if you change your mind and miss that language later on in college, you could take a higher level course instead of relearning some of the basics.

Alliot has to be one of my favorites. I can spend hours there between people watching in the dining hall, going to the MOVE office and free Yoga in our lounge. It encompasses all things amazing about SMC.
The other building that will always be my favorite is Lyons Hall. That was my dorm first year and I can't pass it without smiling. That was the dorm where I met my best friends and it was the first place I lived outside Sandwich, MA. That dorm will always be my favorite :-)
