What are your thoughts on paying taxes on stripper earnings?
You don't pay taxes on tips in most, if not all, professions... I personally am actually pro-taxes (fairly and proportionally, that is—I mean that I am pro-taxes, in theory; I like firemen, roads, etc—surprise, I'm not a total anarchist).
That being said. I think before you can possibly get all up in 'all strippers should pay taxes' land then we should also have unions and other benefit options available to us. Or, you know, an hourly wage in addition to tips... which you could then tax. Like waitstaff and barstaff.
Since the establishment gets around payroll taxes by our "independent contractor" status (hella airquotes around that, that status a whole other issue), I see no reason why we should take the consequence of that. Yet, I will be filing taxes on my earnings this coming year, but I feel that's more civic duty.
