      Hi! :)
So, I'm not sure if any of what I'm going to say is technically accurate, but this sort of what I know based on a few things I've read:

RAW: The image size is larger (so less photos fit on your memory card), but it's the raw data, so when you open it in camera raw, you can open it to almost whatever size you want and you can mess around with it a bunch without compromising pixels and image quality. This is especially helpful if you don't always get exposure right in camera (I almost always end up adjusting exposure). So I tend to open photos in camera raw, mess with exposure and color balance and things like that, and then open them as jpgs in photoshop to crop and run actions and things like that.

JPG: I think this is what most cameras default to if you're not shooting RAW, and you can do high quality jpg files, but I think it limits what you can do, because it's a lossy file type. I think you can still play around with exposure and color balance, but messing around with it too much can start to compromise the quality of the image, because you're already starting out with a slightly compressed image.

Hopefully that kind of makes sense?

I suppose it depends on what you're doing with your photos? Just posting to the web so friends can see? Not planning on making large prints? Maybe shoot in .jpg? Taking beautiful naturey crap photos that you might want to frame and hang on your wall? Then maybe shooting RAW is a better idea?

There's an article here that probably answers it better than I have: http://digital-photography-school.com/raw-vs-jpeg

      :)

It's so hard to pick one! There's so many to choose from! Goat cheese is a favorite lately, and brie. And feta. Oh man, nothing beats some good feta cheese. As much as I like cheese, I tend to be picky about it. For years I've turned my nose up at bleu cheese, but I tried some the other day that wasn't too bad. There's a first for everything I suppose.

That's a tough one. The one I personally use the most is my 50mm 1.4 lens. It's worked for me in so many situations...low light, outside, inside, etc. It's a great lens. The 50mm 1.8 is a fantastic lens too, and you can't beat the price (usually around $100). Also, it's not a heavy or bulky lens, and you can sort of make it a macro lens by adding magnification filters. I'm guessing a zoom lens with a wide range and a wide aperture would also be a great all purpose lens, but I find that they cost almost as much or more than the camera body itself. The other factor to consider is what type of stuff you're shooting. I take a lot of shallow depth of field naturey crap shots and the 50mm works well for that. It's also great for portraits (of family, friends, cats...). If you're doing a lot of sports stuff or photos of kids up on stage, something with a zoom might be a better all purpose lens. But! Even then, I think the 50mm would still be a good lens to have, not necessarily for those situations, but just in general.

      Hopefully that helps?

      I think this is everything:

      Camera Bodies:
      Canon EOS Digital Rebel
      Canon EOS 40D

      Lenses:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm (kit lens with the Rebel)
      Canon EF 50mm f1.8
      Canon EF 50mm f1.4
Canon EF 50mm Compact Macro f2.5
      Canon EF 85mm f1.8
      Canon EF 75-300mm
Canon EF 28-135mm (kit lens with the 40D)
      Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle

      Other stuff:
      Sigma EF 530 Flash
Set of Close-up filters for the 50mm
      Various polarizing and UV filters
      Gorillapod tripod for large cameras

With all that stuff, what I usually use/have in my camera bag is: the 40D with the 50mm 1.4 lens, the 85mm 1.8 lens, and the wide angle lens. I may switch that up if I know what sort of situation I'm going to be in (bring the flash instead of the wide angle if I know there won't be natural light). But if I don't know, that combination works pretty well.

I also have a Canon G9 point and shoot that I carry around if I don't want to lug camera equipment.

For editing, I use Adobe Photoshop CS4. I always shoot RAW and open images in Adobe Camera Raw and once I've tweaked things there (if they need tweaking), then I open the image in Photoshop to get things just right.

It goes back a while...I think my brother and I started calling her that after we saw a british movie, and I just kept calling her that out of habit. I still call her that. It doesn't help that I'm a bit on an anglophile either.

I do like cheese! I love cheese! Though I'm a little picky about ot. I'm not a big fan of bleu cheese, but pretty much anything else is okay.

We haven't set a date yet...and we're not in a hurry, so that's okay. We're trying to save money to pay for it ourselves so there's less parents trying to tell us what to do, so that's taking a little time. Believe me, as soon as we set a date and start planning things, I'll probably be writing about it.

I'm assuming we're talking alive or dead...then probably a Beatles show. Or possibly the Smiths, (not that any of them are dead) but I discovered them right around the time they broke up, so to see all 4 blokes on stage together would be awesome.
