audacious indeed, and foolish as well. for good reason the human mind cannot conceive of eternity. formed of frailty and the finite, molded of clay doomed to crack, compelled to breathe by instinct, and by instinct betrayed, this hopeless vessel, flawed by the fire of its formation, ultimately ending. in ultimatum do we offer sacrifice to the unknown, and the unknown laughs in the face of our feeble tribute, scorning, unacknowledging our plea. "to infinity and beyond" is for toys, not for real boys, pinocchio.

but fear of what? of ourselves, of our own cobwebbed semi-existence, fleeting as the dusk? intellect bespectacled and sinister, what colors do our emotions contain to frighten us so that we lock them away beneath homemade stitches of scotch tape? we make ourselves as mirrored glass; able only to look out and never in, reflecting so that the viewer may see only himself in us. and when he too has made himself a looking glass (looking at what, may i ask?) our bouncing echoes of light show nothing; when mirrors meet they birth eternity.

chattering teeth revealed in a grotesque caricature of a smile, the slimy tongue polishing each yellowed fang with a disgusting caress. the corners of the mouth push the skin up in folds and bunches to pucker like a scar at the edges of her eyes, as the lips crack and bleed. blood dripping, dripping down the chin to puddle on protruding clavicles, in the sunken hole at the base of her neck. the rhythm of the drips coincides imperfectly with the monotonous chiming of cankerous clocks, closeted in memory, unleashed by unknown trip wires. a Lose-Lose situation.

i remember when i told you about that conversation we had the summer before ninth grade when you said that emo was cool, and you denied saying that, but then i found the conversation on myspace and showed it to you and it was amusing because we used to think emo was cool. the end.
