i would go back and prevent ptolemy epiphanes from asking the help from the king of syria. at that point, the roman empire got their claws into egypt which imo led to its decline. cleopatra meets caesar, then anthony goes to egypt for a decade, and finally his enemies defeated them both. they both committed suicide instead of going back to rome as prisoners. i mean, i love augustus and all, but he basically made egypt a roman province. it was all over at that point. most blame christianity for egypt's downfall, but i think if they were stronger as a civilization, they could have protected their culture. oh yeah, I LOVE ANCIENT EGYPT.

oh this is hard. i would have to say szechuan cuisine (dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, tea smoked duck) is my favorite. although, north chinese food is right up there though because i LOVE dumplings. (i am addicted to noodle soups, but if i had to pick one, i would have to pick japanese ramen with pork belly chasu, butter corn, and a soft boiled egg.

i realize these are all asian foods, but i grew up with them so i'm biased. if i didnt, i would have to say tuscan foods is growing on me, especially in california where you can get really fresh ingredients. i also have a soft spot for southern food with a splash of creole. fried chicken, gumbo, jambalaya, bbq beans, greens with some vinegar and pork back. I'M SO HUNGRY NOW.

mountain view is a good compromise but its totally suburban. i have lived in san jose, santa clara, milpitas, mountain view, and san francisco. i have to say that the commute is definitely worth it if you dont want the suburban life.
