I'd also use the word 'polished', I guess, because I'm a bit of a perfectionist sometimes. Plus, because I didn't grow up with an interest in photography, most of the things that visually interested me through my life were comics, movie posters, magazines, album covers, and so on, rather than gritty polaroids or whatever.
