Well, when I first started I had a vision of shooting extravagant weddings, with sultry pouting model-like brides and designer everything. Which if you know me, is about as far away from my style as you can get. When I embraced letting my personality out on my blog and my images, I started to get couples with similar taste, style and sense of humor. Serviced with solid work, prompt communication and quick turnaround, these couples did the legwork for me in bringing more business.

Join in with total abandon, and text my friend Shelly about it.

My biggest plan is to refrain from over-planning.

I would have swallowed my pride and paid someone to clean my house more often instead of pretending that I was someday going to get it done.

I don't really use any special lenses- I do try to keep the background out of focus when photographing children, as I can't control where they will be from one moment to the next... so it doesn't matter if they run in front of an ivy wall or an overflowing trash can. Setting your camera focus on AL Servo will track motion (which can be a bonus with kids), but I prefer to stick with single focus points; I can lock focus and recompose as I please.
Of course, this does result in a pretty bad case of Nintendo Button Mash Finger after a few sessions. But I've yet to get to the point where blisters form. I wish I could say that about playing Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. -
I do! Can you email me at ugphoto@gmail.com.

Without knowing 'where you are', I'd recommend these few things: 1) Pre-visualize your shots, 2) Research other artists whose work inspire you, and 3) DON'T stress out on the wedding day. It can be very overwhelming the first time.

I currently have three open spots on November 26th at Old Town Saint Charles. Email ugphoto@gmail.com for details!
-
Three out of the four collections I offer DO have engagement sessions. Please email with your wedding date for complete wedding pricing.
-
Feel free to contact me via email at ugphoto @ gmail.com. I look forward to meeting you!

Cathy,
Bulk pricing goes into effect once one image is ordered x25. So if they are different images, then they will be priced a la carte. If you are spending over $500, I'd counsel you to purchase the digital negatives instead! It's well worth the money IMO. -
All portrait sessions are $200, and that includes about 1 to 1.5 hours of time, an online ordering gallery, and $100 worth of goodies. I love the Bekemeiers! They have some seriously great wardrobe choices. I hear Beauregard is quite the clotheshorse.

Right now the editorial spread is available via slideshow here:

and facebook here:

Feel free to contact the bride for the private link to her full online gallery! -
The spreads are created in InDesign, and although I wish I could take credit, the idea has been around for a while. I subscribe to the 'album predesign' school of thought (see Gary Fong, Kevin Swan) where the big push is to get my clients to see the images FIRST in an album format, thus hopefully falling in love with it and pouring money into my bank account in a big dollar bill avalanche while I slide around on it like Scrooge McDuck.
Well, the dollar bill avalanche has yet to happen, but I've fallen in love with designing albums along the way so it's been kind of an end in itself. Plus I think this is the way wedding photos SHOULD be viewed- as a symphony and not piece by piece.
I often will have a sister of the bride or bridesmaid confide in the while I shoot saying something like this:
"I used so-and-so for my pictures, and in my gallery was a picture of AN EARRING. I mean, who does that? What am I going to do with a picture of AN EARRING?"
So hopefully, this Editorial Spread will give you an idea of what to do with that picture of YOUR EARRING.
Thanks for the question. Good one! -
Yay! Sure! I currently have a project in Beta mode for just this purpose. Currently the slideshow is only available as a printed and bound wedding album- but we are working on making them available on a smaller and more budget friendly scale. So the short answer is Not Yet, but Soon.

No problem Julie! They will be up fon Friday at this address: www.undergracephoto.com/lanzonehuffer
AND there will be Facebook sneaks coming up in the next 72 hours. -
I primarily shoot with a set of Canon 5D cameras, and use natural light whenever possible. I ain't skeered of flash, however! When using flash, I try to do a lot of 'foofing' to simulate natural light.
This answer would also benefit from elaboration in a blog post, but in short, I am always looking to work 'light out of dark' to maximize chiaroscuro. SO! Simply put, I am looking for my main subject to be against a relatively dark background. Your eye gravitates to the area of highest contrast in an image first, so I shift around a bit to make sure that the highest contrast in the image is right at what I want to be the focal point......yo. -
Most everything you see is shot RAW with a Canon 5d. Our photo booth work is done in JPEG with a Canon 20D.
