We have lots of info in our Knowledge Base: http://help.sixapart.com/tp/us/ Specifically: http://help.sixapart.com/tp/us/getting_started.html And if you have any questions, we're always available via the Help link in your account.

We are in a transitional period and things are usually slow over the holidays anyway. TypePad isn't going away, though and we'd love for our subscribers to stick around to see what's coming up. And if you have any questions or concerns, open a help ticket and we'll be more than happy to help.

The Block List will help you filter out keywords, URLs, IP addresses, etc. Just go to the Comments page and look for Block List on the left. We have more details here:
http://help.sixapart.com/tp/us/block_list.html -
The categories sidebar listing shows the categories that have at least 1 post. So once you've created a post with your new categories, each will show in that listing.

If you're pasting in content from another source, like Word, that can sometimes cause the leading to be inconsistent. If you click on the HTML tab, you might see some code that sets the line-height, which you can remove to make that paragraph match the rest. If you have any questions about this, please open a help ticket and we can show you the specific code I'm referring to.

If you have a second domain you'd like to use, we recommend forwarding or redirecting that to the primary domain for the blog. That will allow the blog to be accessible with both domains but not cause any backend issues with having two domains mapped to the same blog.

It sounds like you're looking for a Page badge. Facebook has those here:

The TypePad API uses OAuth for authentication; there's more information here -- http://www.typepad.com/services/apidocs/authentication -- about how that works on TypePad, and you should be able to grab a PHP OAuth library and integrate that into your application.

I encourage you to file a ticket with Support and have them help you out. We have a variety of options when you upload a photo for sizing (including having it resized to your own custom size) and placement (float left, float right, none, etc.); when I upload photos into my posts I use those tools, pick a size and position during the upload process. There can definitely be differences in behavior from browser to browser on how that photo properties sheet / modification box appears in the post editor; I definitely encourage you to connect with Support re. that. Thanks!

Definitely hear you about wanting more range on the blog themes! We don't control the pricing on our outside design consultants, though we'll definitely pass along the feedback!

We recommend setting the default post font with CSS, rather than having to set it with each post:

Depending on your account level and your comfort with CSS, you may be able to set this up yourself:

If you use our Advanced Templates functionality you can alter your templates to have comments display in an ordered list to get the numbers, but our standard templates today don't number the comments on the blog. That's a great suggestion, though.

This isn't on our roadmap at this time. There are a lot of great tools for you to automate the creation of watermarks on your photos before you upload them to your blog; some will even process an entire directory of images at once. And with those tools you'll have more control over how the watermark is applied and how it looks.

This is not on our roadmap at this time. Sorry!

I love this question! I think the best -- and easiest! -- thing you can do is start participating in communities and other blogs that are similar to yours. If you're blogging about crafting, say, find other great craft blogs that you admire, and leave comments there, reach out to those bloggers, offer to contribute posts to their sites, etc. The first step is always about building relationships with other great content creators like you, so that they know who you are and what your blog is about. If you're creating interesting content, they'll eventually want to link to you, and other people reading those blogs will learn about your site, and you'll start to get attention from other people that share your interests.

We're working with our engineers to turn up the filters on the anti-spam service. In the meantime, we strongly recommend taking advantage of the Block List feature. http://help.sixapart.com/tp/us/block_list.html

If you use the "Full" option when uploading an image, that will automatically set the image to the right width. Otherwise, it depends on the width of the center column.

We offer a separate banner service for less than a total blog design, if you're interested in that. We have some tips for choosing a size for a banner image here:
