At the beginning of my entrepreneurial career, I always felt people saw more risk in betting on me than there actually was. It has a lot to do with the time period when I "cut my teeth" as an entrepreneur -- too young in the late 90's and the tech scene was too dire in the early 2000's.
So I don't feel like they took a chance on me at all, but rather I had to be insanely inspirational and hardworking to get folks to do anything. -
mainly because the questions I get are lame, impersonal, not authentic, and somewhat spammy
-
I'm kind of sick of these lame automated questions from Formspring employees... wish you guys had some *authentic* questions for me
-
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Packers...
-
Yes, there has been a noticeable decline, and no, I haven't switched.

the more crowded a space is the more traction you're going to need to prove
if you're in a crowded space, you're in a tough spot... you have to keep iterating on your story - including your marketing and distribution story - to make it more awesome to make up for the lack of traction.
<snark>Or you can just get more traction </snark> -
This is one of the toughest questions that I get. The answer is always so nuanced. Look within you for the answer young Jedi

there are tons of places to find contract designers, or you find someone who will take equity for work, or do what you got to do... like i said, if your story is awesome, design is not the end all be all.
-
sounds like fun. like the Social Network, I'm sure the facts won't be quite accurate... such as it was me and Sean Parker that took Zuckerberg to dinner the night Sean and Zuck first met :-)
-
i'm the worst name guy on the planet... my last company was called redswoosh for godsakes, my twitter name is konatbone...
That said, a good name is a good start, but don't kill yourself and not start b/c you don't have the perfect name -
false... look at Formspring, started out of Indianapolis, Indiana
-
that depends
-
find an area you're passionate about, or expert at, get familiar with what's going on in the space - twitter, blogs, etc., and start reaching out to the real early startups you are interested in
