If an anteater suddenly appeared at your day with a sign saying "I'm a homeless orphan from Haiti" would you take it in or let it sit on your doorstep, scared to take it in because of what's going on with those missionaries who stole Haitian children?
Well, clearly the anteater is lying, because anteaters don't live in the Caribbean, so I don't think I'd face any problems from anyone claiming that I stole it from Haiti!
I absolutely would take it in: partly so I could take it in to work and show it off, and partly to see how it and my dogs would interact. Plus I do have a nicely set up guestroom.
