I gave my guy a Kindle about a year and a half ago, and he loves it. In a way, I think it encourages us both to read more since it's exceedingly easy to purchase books. Right now we're both reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, him on his Kindle and me using the Kindle app on my iPad.

I'd choose a deep dish with cornmeal crust, pepperoni, goat cheese, artichoke hearts, garlic, mushrooms, and roasted red peppers. Holy crap I'm hungry.

That's a great interpretation of GlaD0S! I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for your response!

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to respond.
I'd really like to spend a little more time and thought with the Bechdel Test and how it works with games. I think I mentioned this in my original post, but while the Bechdel Test is a good *starting point* in examining how women are portrayed in games media, it doesn't necessarily contain the exact criteria necessary to analyze the interactive aspect of the medium (or a variety other elements that are unique to games like achievements, DLC, etc.)
That all being said I do think that Portal and Portal 2 absolutely pass the test given the action oriented exchanges between Chell and GlaD0S. Solving the various puzzles in Portal and Portal 2 can be interpreted as having a conversation with GlaD0S in which GlaD0S challenges and taunts you while you retort with perceptive solutions. Chell speaks through the actions of the player, and I think that works well enough to count!

Not a huge fan of the moustache, but not a huge enough non-fan to dispute any moustaches grown on certain significant others. I like it when there is some variety... a little stubble/light face hair for a while and then baby face when its all shaved off.

Yes. I like pretty girls.

no way. too chatty, too noisy! it's kind of like that one talkative friend you have who you like to have around every once and a while because they make you feel "social" and "cool" but then when you hang out too long you feel like you'll never be cool enough and they never really did care about you all that much (which is why they never call YOU or text YOU to party). I don't know if that made ANY sense!

Well, the game I was originally tooting my own horn about (the Astro Annie one) has been put aside fro the time being. This is largely because my vision of it would take months to complete, and frankly it's not challenging enough from a game design perspective. In turn, I've decided to focus my efforts on becoming more comfortable with coding and experimenting with simpler game mechanics. I will try and publish these if they're not awful and embarrassing.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't. I have Okami sitting on my game shelf but I have yet to play it. So many games!

B+ is probably accurate enough! The only thing more romantic is if you helped rub the lotion on the skin etc. etc. etc.

It's a great question and I don't really know the answer! In past attempts I've quantified myself as a "Game Enthusiast" or "Friend of Game People" but that's not very descriptive. At this very moment in time I'm a self-taught student in game design, ever since I quit my job back in October. I think that's probably the closest to what I am right now. I'd say "Gaming Personality" or blogger, but I haven't blogged since November.

A little of both. I won't deny the fact that a lot of the unique opportunities I've had in the industry such as doing that host gig for MTV, podcasting, and Area 5 were opportunities given to me due to the fact that they wanted a female gamer's perspective/presence. This I am grateful for, and over the years I've become much more attuned to the need for constructive women voices and involvement in the industry as a whole. That said, I have from time to time been dismissed for being a woman. While some of this has to do with the fact that my presence in the industry is ambiguous (journalist? personality? nice girl who sneaks into gaming events all the time?), there have certainly been incidents where my gender for whatever reason seems to discredit my opinions or affirm some sort of lack of respect. I get by, but it can be frustrating.

Thanks! Well maybe I'll get around to it at some point. Right now I'm trying to focus hard on game making, and after that I have to devise a means of reviving my blog and whatnot... But perhaps after that I'll try and muster something up... Or maybe if I'm lucky the Area 5 folk will Invite me to appear on something of theirs again :)

Some kinda egg white scramble with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, mushrooms and goat or feta cheese. With a big hot cup of black coffee, a medium sized glass of fresh orange juice, and a side of dry sourdough walnut toast!

I considered starting a stupid youtube show but alas, I have no time!
