Allies most certainly count! In our opinion, allies are an integral part of the GLBTQ community, as they offer unconditional support and advocacy. I believe that an "A" isn't included because GLBTQ refers to sexual orientation. On The SAP, we make sure to express that our goals include providing a safe space for the GLBTQ AND our allies!

Pansexual is a sexual orientation characterized by the potential for an attraction, romantic love, or sexual desire towards people without regard for their gender identity or biological sex.
The "Q" in LGBTQ has sometimes referenced "queer" and sometimes "questioning." Although queer was once considered offensive, many agree that it has been reclaimed as "an umbrella term for minority sexual orientations and gender identities that are not heterosexual, heteronormative" (Wikipedia). -
