My phone isn't smart. I have an app on my iPod called Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock. I put it on my bed and set a window of time when I want to wake up. It has a motion sensor, and can tell how deep you're sleeping by how much you're moving. It wakes you up when you're sleeping less deeply, and it gives you a graph of how you slept. Skeptical? So was I, but it's amazing.
