Computer teacher. Art teacher. All around geek.

Questions Answered

What inspired you to become a computer teacher.

I can't label any single event that inspired me. I enjoy participating in the creative process, and more and more of the tools that are developed for that require computers in some way.

I also see people ruining their lives because they didn't understand how technology worked. My hope is that as a computer teacher I'll be able to have that happen at least a little less often.

do you have any other hobbies instead of computers.

Of course! I'm a big fan of photography, including old-school film photography. Using an enlarger in a darkroom to develop their own black and white photos is something that every photographer should try at least once.

I also enjoy reading, particularly sci-fi and fantasy books. Amongst my favorites are sci-fi books that were written before I was born.

They often get the science wrong and their predictions are usually way off, but it's fun for me to see how they thought the world would be like today.

when or if you teach how to make a game will we make a game out of our individual intrest or same problem and same characters

We won't have enough time to fully customize a game from scratch. It will either be an arcade style third-person shoot-em-up game or a platformer, but I'll let you pick which of those two or even if you want to do both.

I also can show you how to make a Jeopardy style quiz game. We'll see.

Will you retire soon???????????????

I think your "?" key was sticking. Only one is needed at the end of a sentence. More than that is considered immature.

To answer your question, no. I don't think I'll ever retire completely, but I may change jobs in the future. I currently have enough education to teach college classes, but have no plans to do that full time for many, many years.

Did you ever have another career in mind?

Most kids do when growing up. My mom was sure that I was going to be either a forest ranger or a librarian. There was a time I sincerely considered becoming a Pastor.

Those all sound like fun careers for me, but not as fun as what I do now.

ugly beard

My wife likes it though, and without even knowing who you are I'll still say she's cuter than you'll ever be. I keep it because I like it, and she likes it.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is an example of what on the internet is referred to as a "troll."

Trolls make comments meant to invoke primal reactions from others, mostly because they like attention and don't distinguish between positive and negative attention.

Anonymity (or the fact that no one knows who they are) helps trolls because they believe they will not have any consequences for their actions.

... in spite of their inability to form complete sentences, capitalize, or use appropriate punctuation. Those will sort of hurt you if you want a job paying more than minimum wage.

do people find you funny

Funny looking, yes.

In all seriousness, some do, some don't. It's a mater of personal preference and aesthetics. I don't begrudge the ones who dislike my humor.

How much of your hair do you donate to locks of love?

As much as I can while still leaving enough for me to pull it back (My hair hasn't been "short" for a decade now, even with the donations). Usually it's around 13 inches that gets donated, though this time it will probably be more.

what is your favorite color?

I don't have one, really. I prefer earth tones when choosing clothing but other than that any color in the spectrum has its uses.

Do you like to do Yogu? Do you think it is good exercise and keeps you limber?

I assume you mean yoga? I am aware that it is good exercise but unfortunately no, I don't do it. Anyone who sees me will know immediately that I live a sedentary lifestyle.

how in world of warcraft do you get a motorcycle.

Level an Engineer to max level, grind reputation with your starter Northrend faction, and save up lots and lots of gold. Like around 12,000 G.

Alternatively: Make friends with an Engineer who has done these steps, and/or save up even more gold than I just mentioned, because they WILL charge you.

What are your favorite instruments that you like to play?

The only instruments I had any real formal training in were percussion. Snare, bass, cymbals, and so on.

While I appreciate listening to a variety of instruments and genres of music, I haven't played much since 9th grade. I imagine I would be very rusty.

what is a good name for a boy that starts with a y?

That's a very subjective question. What one person might think is an awesome name might be a horrible name if you ask someone else - or ask the same person later on.

But since you're asking me ... Yorick

It's essentially the Scandinavian version of "George," and even got used in Shakespeare's Hamlet - my favorite Elizabethan play.

do you like being a computer class teacher and a art teacher at the same time does it get on your nerves sometimes because your using a computer all day long when there is a class going on.

I already answered that yes, I enjoy teaching both subjects at the same time. As for the 2nd part of your question ... I'm not sure I understand it.

Why, if I'm teaching classes that involve large amounts of technology, would I be annoyed by being on the computer? This is a subject that interests me and manages to hold my attention in spite of my ADD.

I'll admit there are a few tasks I dislike, but they revolve mostly around the daily/weekly paperwork that is necessary for me to keep my position (attendance, grading, etc.). I won't complain too much about it, but when I have an excuse to put it off for a few minutes (like, say, when a student asks for assistance) I don't mind at all.

Do you enjoy teaching technology,if you dont is there any other you will like to have.

I am having more fun teaching now than I have ever had before. I enjoy both Visual Art and Technology, and what I'm doing now involves a great deal of both.
