On the new home page, we have a fundraising goal for editing that is more current. We will start editing once we have the funds in place. Once we start editing full time, I estimate it will take 12 - 18 months fo finish.

I don't have a specific date yet. The project is financed by donations, so the rate in which we fundraise effects the speed in which we can complete the remaining creative goals.

Remaining creative goals include: completing our documentary, web-development, and organizing our premiere.

If I had to guess, I would estimate between 18 and 24 months. The documentary alone will take at least 12 months to edit once we can afford to start on that full time; we have nearly 500 hours of footage and counting... it will also take time to organize our world premiere.

I'm working on some new fundraising tools and press which should help. But I'm also working other paying jobs, which takes up most of my time; The 1 Second Film is a volunteer/passion project for me.

Hi! ABQ was a fun stop. My sister set that one up. :)

The film is not done yet. The Oprah Story: The day we got to Chicago, Oprah had to go to Africa to deal with a situation at her Leadership Academy, and we missed her. I've been editing some of the footage and will be posting after our new web launch. Currently we're raising funds for editing the documentary, and gearing up for another round of press. Yes, $1 will get you listed in the credits at the Associate Producer level, $10 is the Producer level, and $100 or more is the Executive Producer credit. Donations are also tax-deductible in the US. More details/incentives at http://www.the1secondfilm.com/donate

Great question. The fact is, the project is a logistical challenge/nightmare. :)

You may not realize by our website, but there is no studio or full-time crew behind this. I'm 1 guy designing and project managing web development, filming, editing, promoting, selling credits, etc. Volunteers help with entering names, digitizing, handing out fliers, painting our bus, all of that. And funds trickle via online donations - though some days we have no donations. Donations are saved until we can afford the next thing we need to buy. For instance, the next big thing we need is a RAID drive so we can work with the 450 hours of footage we have for the documentary. Before buying such an item, I will contact every hard drive manufacturer to try and get the stuff donated. Everything the production has (camera, tape stock, hard drives, web development, computers, etc.) was either donated or purchased with dollar-by-dollar donations. This is a slow way of doing things, but we're making progress.

For the record, I've been working on this for years and do not receive a salary. I work side jobs to pay my bills, and work on this film in my free time. One day, I hope the 501(c)3 non-profit foundation we started (The Collaboration Foundation) will be sustainable enough where I can work on it full-time and build capacity with a staff.

If I were ever to receive a salary, we have checks-and-balances in place. Our non-profit's Board of Directors would vote on my salary. While I am on the Board of Directors, our Conflict of Interest policy does not allow me to vote on my own salary. You have to have all of this paperwork on file with the IRS before you can get 501(c)3 non-profit status.

The most time consuming elements have been web development (4 out of the past 6 years) -which totally sucks - and the documentary, which may take another 2 years to edit and complete, depending on fundraising and resourced. If we can hire a full-time editor, it may go faster.

Web development is important to the project's goals as it helps the project to scale. Our crew can now participate online without me having to keep entering every $1 producer's name - which is what we did for the first few years. The bigger our crew gets, the more participants we will have for future projects.

That's the idea anyway. Once the film is finished, all profits will benefit the Global Fund for Women.

We don't know. We just started working with an editor part time to start cutting the documentary. Meanwhile, we continue to sell $1 producer credits to raise finishing funds.
