Will do! My current method of one-click puzzle fetching is no longer being updated, and the NYT retrieval broke a while ago, so I'm open to alternatives.

A beer, at the right bar.

Nerdy stuff. I have a vast arsenal on which we can draw.

cruciverb.com is a great place to start. Look for the specification sheets.

I've never heard of that being an issue; the east-coast imbalance is probably just one of those things. Most puzzle submissions are done over email or, in Will Shortz's case, snail mail.
Where are you sending puzzles? Are you trying to crack into the New York Times and similar outlets, or are you seeking to be hired to make a puzzle on a certain subject and/or for a certain group? In the former case, there should be no issue with geography; my first few acceptances came when I lived in England. In the latter case, it's all about making yourself findable. Maybe some clients will want someone who's "close to home," but that's not a bias for the East specifically. -

Ah, it appears you may have solved it in the Onion's staggeringly awful interface on their website, which does not support circled boxes. Take a look at this: http://www.crosswordfiend.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Region-capture-3.png

No. You get one guess as to how I know who he is anyway.

If so, then I'm Queen Elizabeth.

You're really not trying anymore, are you?

I'd give my life to be immortal!

No, but I think it'd be funny to do so and start giving golf tips.

I didn't even know that was a thing.

Lemonade stand. Shut up; it totally counts.

A shadowy figure jumped me just outside my apartment. Yes, that's it. It happened twenty minutes after I fell asleep, so my night was basically screwed.

The closest thing I have is my nom in the National Puzzlers' League; that moniker is Mosayc. Its derivation is left as an exercise for the reader.

Weezul, killing it with the questions.
This is easy. February 22, 1980. Lake Placid, New York. USA 4, USSR 3. Done. -
You don't think I could engineer a pirate ninja cyborg?

Depends on what you mean. If I could do something over exactly the same way, it'd be senior year of high school. I have a couple big regrets from that, but the fun I had far outweighs them. If I could do something over and change it, it'd be college. I had fun, sure, but the regrets are a good deal weightier.
