Sometimes, but they're usually really, really weird!

Partly because I started reading--A LOT--after grad school. And partly because a grad school professor said, "Tera, you're a very effective writer."

Anyone can be an author! You just have to be a strong enough writer. And if you're under 18, I think you'll have to have a parent/guardian sign the contracts.

One of my favorites (especially for new writers) is this one from Nora Roberts: "The most important thing in writing is to have written. I can always fix a bad page. I can’t fix a blank one."

It depends on the book. And the writer. A friend of mine revised her book four times and then sold it. I kept writing new books, revising them once, and moving on. I sold the fourth book I wrote. I think maybe four times is the charm.

Spellchecker should help with the spelling. You should know the basics of good grammar, at least, but editors and copyeditors help with that.

Sometimes. It depends on the book, the author, the editor, and the publisher. I came up with Goddess Boot Camp, Forgive My Fins, Fins Are Forever, and Just For Fins. My editor came up with Oh. My. Gods., Sweet Venom, and Sweet Shadows.

Maybe. I outlined my first book, but not my next few. Now I'm back to outlining. It just depends on your process. Everyone's is different.

Not this week... I have to spread them out. But stay tuned NEXT WEEK!!!

I haven't. What kind of music is it?

Either in a bath or in bed. Guess I prefer to be lying down.

Oh, by the weekend. I should include that in the posts, huh?

Um, names? Sometimes they're just obvious (like Lily), sometimes they're based on research (I scanned lots of Greek baby names lists to find Phoebe, Nicole, Stella, and Griffin), and sometimes I check out fun resources like nameberry.com and a book called Cool Baby Names.

Don't worry about it. Pick a moment when your character's life is about to change and just start writing. You can come back and fix the first sentence later.

As of right now there aren't any more books in the works, but I'm going to continue the series through novellas (longer than a short story, shorter than a book). Expect news about the first one soon.
Tera Lynn Childs’s Bio
Oh, Somewhere ....
I write books about monsters, mermaids, and mythology (sometimes all at once). Next ~ JUST FOR FINS (7/3/12) ... Later ~ SWEET SHADOWS (9/4/12)
