There is no point other than to attempt to curate some of the content in your stream. I quite like the technology and the presentation and hate that the spam it's producing now will lead to an image/usage problem. When the fishbowl is so insular, as it is for those interested in or working in social media you invariably see the same articles re-purposed over and over to the point where its usefulness is diminished and eventually ignored.

I don't think I can answer this one in a short concise way. I have never considered myself a social media consultant. I'm a problem solver. I design frameworks for solutions at really high levels (integrated social enterprise models for example that will take years to be fully realized) as well as more tactical frameworks (multi-faceted campaigns leveraging various mediums). Sure, I do a lot of my work in the 'social' space right now, but to me I attack problems no differently than I did 15 years ago, it's just that the tools I have available to leverage have expanded.

I dont manage it well, my work and personal lives are so intertwined as to be indistinguishable. Yes, women have more of a "expectation" on them than men when it comes to family, and vice versa where work is concerned. It's a crap system if you ask me, but from a societal point of view I suppose I at least understand it even if I don't agree with it.

I think it's a really complicated answer. When Kevin Thau said that, I personally think it was more about corporate positioning in the marketplace than it was a true statement on the nature of Twitter.

His inference was that Twitter was a 'news' site, that only being a consumer was ok even if you didn't want to interact, etc. All of which are true. But it neglects the fact that the *engine* that underlies and makes possible all of the above activity are its social aspects.

Everything changed for the most part. I'd been doing the whole Silicon Valley money-grab for a while, had the nice place in Marin, the nice car, blah blah blah... And was miserable. I was missing most of my sons life. We sold the house, put *everything* in storage, bought a big motorhome, and traveled the country for a little over a year deciding on 'what's next'. In the process we learned how little one actually 'needs' (living out of a motorhome will demonstrate that really quick). So when we moved here we ditched the huge house, ditched the constant high-end networking called 'entertaining', that constant need to impress, etc. and scaled everything down. It's not for everyone, but for me it allows me to focus on my work and my family which are the two things that I really enjoy.

Hah. Personally, I think I'd have to go with a rolling pin. There's nothing quite like the 'kachunk' that it makes when used properly.

Outside of visiting some heroes of mine (Einstein, Ben Franklin, Bertrand Russell, Galileo, etc.) I'm not sure there's a more exciting time to be alive than right now.

You think? I don't see myself that way at all, but then again we don't always see our own selves very clearly. I most definitely speak my mind, even if that is something that will be difficult to hear, and I don't suffer fools lightly. Guess I'll have to try harder.

I think the new Modern Family is hilarious. Parks & Rec, The Office, etc. are all good. I think Top Gear on BBC America has the best post production work out there.
