Hello! I use the Nikon D90 which is pretty darn amazing. I must say though, it can difficult to use if you haven't had any photography experience.

Hey sorry for the late reply! Anyway my mother buys my hijab from KL, I'm not exactly sure where she buys them from but I think you can find plenty of them in KL - I've not seen them in sg, sorry :/

University forces you to become independent in the sense that you'll find yourself doing your own work in tutorials. As soon as tut's over, everyone leaves instantly and there's none of that casual chitchat you often have with your classmates in JC/Poly. I know this sounds slightly daunting but it's really not that bad!

I usually have a friend in each tut but we're not close because a lot of them aren't from my degree. I hang out with a couple of people from my degree, we're very close and although we don't usually have the same tuts, we attend our lectures and have lunch together :D Some of my friends from Singapore are studying here as well so we meet up at least 2-3x a month for food and lol sessions.

Don't worry about it so much! I'm sure you'll be fine :)

Relationships are allowed but of course there are limits to what a couple can/cannot do. I'm not about to list them all here because I'm no expert and I don't claim to be one. I suppose you think all our marriages are arranged or something? That's just a really bad myth popularized by the Western media lol and before you think "Oh this must be restricted to the Arab culture then" -one of the famous figures of the Arab muslim world, the lovely Queen Rania of Jordan actually met her King at a dinner party hosted by friends and they dated briefly before getting hitched so there you go, a clean-cut example with a slight hint of romance to debunk this whole 'no relationships allowed in Islam' myth ;D

Also, I think you meant my cousin? I'm not dating anyone at the moment and I think that's kinda obvious by the lack of hot boyfriend photos/10,000 word entries summarizing our saccharine dates lol? My mom's actually trying to get me to date but fortunately/unfortunately for the single men population out there, I'm extremely picky =D

Are you thinking about enrolling in mass comm at university or polytechnic level? They're both taught differently which is why I'm asking. Mass comm at university level is more theory based and requires more in depth research (this applies to every degree in Arts at least, no running away from theory) but this depends on which university you choose to pursue it in though.

So far it's been a good challenge, mass comm is something I've never pursued before (I was doing design before this) In my uni, apart from doing the core subjects, you get to select subjects which are related to mass comm (electives, as they say) and they've been immensely fun..as far as studying goes lol.

I'm guessing your fear that it won't suit you is based on the feeling that you might not do well? If you have an interest in mass comm, why not give it a go? I think the key to doing well is to do something that you really, really, *REALLY* like ;D So just do some careful thinking and research thoroughly on the school/course you want to enroll into e.g. subjects you'd be taking etc

Good question btw! There have been cases in the local papers but thankfully nothing bad has happened to me. Everyone has been really nice here, they can be ignorant sometimes though but it's not on purpose so I don't feel like I'm in any danger of being discriminated. Plus I was actually surprised that there's a lot of hijab wearing muslims here too, you can't miss them - they're everywhere!

I think the biggest no-no would be using a foundation shade that doesn't match your skintone! Anyone can learn how to apply make-up properly but they need to get their skin colouring right. Foundation's the base of your make-up and if you screw that up, everything else will just look like one sizzling mess.

There's this Indonesian restaurant here in Melbourne called Nelayan which has the WORST indo food I have tasted in my life. If you thought the chinese food stall in school was crap, this restaurant (omg I can't even believe they've actually survived as a frickin' restaurant for so long) serves INDONESIAN FOOD FROM HELL. The food was very bland and the stewed soy sauce chicken dish I picked out was tough to chew + rubbery...it's supposed to be chicken stew i.e you know nicely tender chicken pieces but I swear to God my teeth almost broke trying to eat the damn thing.

*gasp* and ruin what my momma gave me? No way! And besides, I'm too much of a chicken to go under the knife.

Wearing the hijab is part of my religion and I take it seriously. That doesn't mean I'm a saint though. A lot of people assume muslims who wear the hijab are supremely god loving (there's nothing wrong with loving God but there are extremists as you and I know), passive, narrow-minded and less outgoing than their non-hijab wearing counterparts. It's a common stereotype I've been fighting against for years - the hijab doesn't constrain my actions or personality in any way: It doesn't stop me from doing the things I like e.g. fashion, design, make-up etc. I'm essentially the same person with or without the hijab.

I'm sure every muslim woman has various reasons for not wearing the hijab but it saddens me when their reason for not wearing the hijab is because they fear wearing it would subject them to being judged unfairly by everyone else when in reality, they're already judging themselves negatively waaaay before the world has a chance to. That's just unfortunate. I'm not perfect, I have certain qualms even when it comes to my own religion but I've always believed that you should judge a person by what's in their head and not what's on top of their head ;D

Lol sorry for the long grandmother story (sorry if I bored anyone :/) but I hope it's answered your question? I'm very flattered you think I'm "glamorous and fashiony" though I must say I'm far from glamorous HAHA but thank you xx

just foundation + mascara. Actually most of the time when I'm in a hurry, I know it's hard to believe but I don't put make-up on - just sunscreen :3

I like Vogue UK and Vogue Paris! I also like reading Japanese fash mags like ViVi and GLAMOROUS. Nippon Vogue is great too ;D Of course I don't understand a single word but I guess that's the great thing about fashion - all you need is some great visuals.

Omg I love drugstore products! My faves are: Maybelline gel liner (almost as good as MAC's, the only bad thing is you can't use this on your waterline because it'll smudge a bit but it's great for the basic cat eye!), Queen Helene Mint Julep mask (I actually found a better but pricier version of this in Melb - I'll talk about it in a future blog entry), Blistex Complete Moisture SPF 15 lipbalm, CoverGirl TruShine lipstick (this has a really pretty sheer/glossy finish), Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame mascara (best mascara EVER) and Biore Cleansing Oil (I did a review of this in a previous entry, you can read it here: http://tea-noir.net/2009/11/shu-uemura-dhc-biore-cleansing-oil-review/)
