Yes, formspring has the character limits...kinda sucks. Mouse is on fetlife, rarely but is there, "aslavestale" is her name. Omega isn't tho.

Great question ablindjourney,
Dom/sub is a Dominant/submissive. In the lifestyle, submissives can hold back or kinda dictate their terms of submission. Some submissives hold nothing back from their Doms, but are opposed to the term "slave" for any myriad of reasons. But we're talking about within the lifestyle.
Slaves once their offer is accepted, understand that they are not in control of anything, unless their Dominant or Master allows it. They, the Master's, might not ask for specific control, but it doesn't mean they can't. The slaves are considered property and their Master's their owner. The legal term is often used, chattel, which means moveable property.
Now, a good Master won't do things or require the slave to do things that are illegal, or would harm the slave or family. He should take care for the mental health of the slave. He shouldn't ask, unless there is a serious commitment for personal information like acess to finances or interfere with the slave's ability to make money.
A pet, could be similar to a slave, but generally mouse feels is somewhere in between. Both can be TPE however, a pet might be more limited to a scene or play, much like a bottom. Or it could mean a simply a name the Dom uses.
TPE doesn't need to mean 24/7. A total power exchange can be for the duration of a scene, or a day, week, whatever terms agreed.. In our case it's 24/7.
Now from the Dom's side of things the terms are far more murky.

Hey ablindjourney,
Well, not entirely certain what you mean. Omega and mouse knew eachother for years and years before we officially got together. The guidelines tho, not really sure. At first he wanted simple obedience, later as needed he added rules and gradually took more control. This didn't happen over night and we moved slowly toward becoming his perfection. Of course, mouse was very willing, knew his character and knew he'd never ask anything of mouse that would be physically or mentally destructive.
Hope that helps!
Please feel free to ask any followup questions.
Hugs,
mouse
