I'm currently working with a very snarky design firm to redesign my site as a more consistent brand. If you had to overhaul Sweetney and couldn't use the sparrow, what would you use and why? And is that a sparrow or swallow or what, woman?

Honestly, I've always been of the mind to let the people I'm paying to be creative be creative -- let em' brainstorm and come up with ideas and do what they'd do if they were doing it for themselves, you know? If you hate what they come up with in the end, you can always ask for a revision or shoot em' down.
This is, incidentally, the tack I took with the Sparklecorn cake at BlogHer. "Make me the coolest unicorn cake you can - the cake YOU would want to have if it were your party." And I think we all know how that turned out :)
Oh, and I believe that there Sweetney bird is a sparrow. That was something my buddy Bill (a designer) came up with back in 2004 for me.
