Ritter Sport -- marzipan + dark chocolate bar. I thought I was in heaven after one bite several years ago and spent the weekend eating an unmentionable number of these bars. Since then the thought of marzipan and dark chocolate makes me nauseous. Seriously. Now, excuse me for a sec...

    2. [mary.c]

It embarrasses me to say that I haven't thought about this. And all the answers that come to mind at the moment are totally generic and lame...

    3. [mary.c]

Shoot. I should've known this might come back to bite me in the ass. Hmmm, let's see...

      1. I ['m fairly certain that I] have below average reading comprehension skills, which is frustrating, makes me feel dumb, and is easily the reason why I don't read books. I really and truly am a visual person and learn best when things are listed out in bullets, color coded, or in some other quick-get format. If I had a magic wand, this is one thing I'd fix instantly about myself.

      2. Someone once told me that I wasn't a real designer because I don't have a design degree. I haven't been able to shake that thought, and have questioned almost everything I've produced ever since.

      3. Cardinals remind me of my dad's parents. Every time I see them I feel happy -- like they're watching over me.

      4. I walk on my tip toes whenever there's a decent amount of moisture on the ground because having wet jeans is one of my biggest pet peeves.

      5. In recent years I've become a horrible decision maker. I tend to fill up a cart with groceries and then go back and unload things as I decide that I don't need them. I also generally walk around a store with something in my hand for a bit before deciding to officially purchase it or put it back.

Yikes. There are so many things I feel like I've been depriving myself of lately that this is a toughie. I love Asian-style cuisine and could easily feast on that for the rest of my life. If I had to narrow it down to one specific dish I think I'd choose the Kung Pao chicken at a local fusion restaurant here in town. If I could choose one thing that I've been avoiding and craving for over a year and trust that it wouldn't have any horrible effects on my body, it would be a Sonic bacon cheeseburger with cheesy tater tots and a side of gravy. ;)

Honestly, I would love to just progress from where I'm at right now. That's a totally lame response because you'd think that would be natural, but it hasn't been. I love, love, LOVE my business, but it's really not much of a business -- I just haven't had the time to develop it the way I'd like to. I know you can't always wait for all your ducks to be in a row before you dive in, but I can't seem to get past that idea. One day, however, SupaFly.Designs will be a really lovely design business.

In terms of fashion, I'd say rustic chic -- but more rustic than chic... My inner tomboy and girly-girl are always at war, but the tomboy usually wins. I gravitate toward rugged outdoor wear -- jeans, boots, fleece, etc... I love, love, love layers, but don't always pull them off as well as I'd like. I feel the most uncomfortable when I'm in a dress and/or showing any amount of cleavage. My idea of a sexy outfit is sassy, colorful heels with dark jeans and a menswear inspired piece on top. My favorite outfit at the moment is a pair of suede cowboy boots that I wear with destroyed jeans, a corduroy motorcycle-style jacket and a scarf -- it makes me feel like a bad ass.

I was a HUGE fan of Real World New Orleans... On a few occasions one of the guys (Matt) would refer to his Miss Supafly... I just dug it and decided my business was going to be SupaFly.Designs.

Is it a cop-out if I say all of them? I'd love to have a huge party with all of the ladies who write the blogs I follow -- they're all so unbelievable. They give me equal parts of inspiration and jealousy, which I think is a good combination to motivate me to be better at what I love doing.

However, if that is in fact a cop-out, I might narrow it down to the following for a nice casual meal and brain-picking session (with a side of drooling and fawning all other them on my part):

      1. Kristen @ www.all-things-lovely.blogspot.com | Holy cow do I love her blog, designs, and photography. Her boudoir photography is absolutely breath taking. If I could find a way, I'd have her shoot me for sure because I know I'd look killer in the end.

      2. Nole @ www.beautifulpaper.typepad.com | Beautiful Paper is one blog I will read over and over and over again -- even if I've already read everything once. I get excited to see Nole's posts and generally feel warm and fuzzy while I'm visiting.

      3. Ez @ www.creaturecomfortsblog.com | See above response for #2.

      4. Jessica @ www.jessicahische.com/spendstoomuchtimeinternetting | I'm so envious of this girl's talent... If my dream super power of being able to absorb all the knowledge and creativity from people (without taking it from them, of course) were real, she'd be in my top ten list.

      5. Nicole @ www.makingitlovely.com | I don't think there's anything design, creative, crafty or handy-woman related that Nicole can't do -- and the fact that she's "mostly self-taught" in terms of design makes me feel extremely hopeful.

Thanks Sarah! I find those images all over the web -- on the blogs I read, on Flickr, and on ImgFave.com. There's a heaping pile of inspirationally gorgeous work out there...

I sure didn't! It's not like I was raised in a box or anything, but I honestly had no idea what possibilities were out there. At the risk of sounded really sheltered and a little lame, I didn't really know you could be a designer...

It wasn't until I'd put in three years in the school of journalism before I realized I wanted to be a graphic designer. And you know something funny about that? When I tell people from high school what I do, not a single person is surprised -- which I think is pretty cool. Apparently my love and talent for art and design was obvious to everyone but me.

Gabe Dixon, Eric Hutchinson, Gavin DeGraw and Mat Kearney are all on constant repeat with the occasional Jackon 5 and Van Morrison song thrown into the mix.

I didn't shower during the seven days I spent camping in the Grand Canyon my senior year of college. It was freezing and snowing all week and it cost money to shower. I didn't take my ski cap off once or change my clothes for the entire trip.

    13. [mary.c]

ABSOLUTELY. I have very clear memories of being in pre-school and knowing for certain that I loved both MJ and Lionel Richie.

    14. [mary.c]

      Melissa! I've missed you!

Yes, I do still have every intention of opening an online shop where I can sell adorably designed stationery-type goodies. I've just been busy with other projects and a wee bit lazy and scared to try and get the shop up and running. Everyone says to just do it and worry about issues as they arise, but I haven't been able to make myself take the plunge.

    15. [mary.c]

I'd change my name to something a little less common and little funkier. I like names like Grier and Rowan, but I don't think I could pull those off.

    16. [mary.c]

Wow -- thanks! I went to the University of Kansas. I actually got my degree in Journalism. It wasn't until my junior year in college that I realized journalism was not what I wanted to do. Fortunately, I had a few design options in the J-school -- the rest is just dumb luck. :)

I'm torn behind the sweet subtly of Patty Griffin and the bold power of Kelly Clarkson. In general, I adore the sound a female voice with gravely and bluesy undertones.

    19. [mary.c]

Shower. I love being clean and the overall feeling of taking a shower, but I hate the time that's involved in the whole process.
