We always go shopping together. Whether it's to thrift stores, estate sales or markets. The more eyes/arms the better and each of us is better at identifying certain items than others. For instance, one week Ashley spent an inordinate amount of time researching Blenko glass. A month later she spotted the Blenko glass pitcher, something I would never have been able to identify.

Most of the other store/blog related stuff (posting, listing, photographing, networking) is done 50/50. We work together on blog posts, commenting on blogs/flickr, listing items, photographing, and shipping. Everything is a culmination of both of our ideas and a combination of our strengths.

We literally sit next to each other all day at our desk (a converted Danish table). Our computers are set up side by side, so we are always going back and forth asking for feedback, questions, and help.

Nope! A couple of science degrees here. David's focus was in Biological Anthropology and Chemistry. Ashley's was in Neuroscience.

We're those people you hear of that don't do anything relating to their formal education. ;)

This is a hard question. Partially because we see a lot of shit out there and also the question differs based on who is asking it. A designer may be asking and meaning something totally different than say a client.

We will answer this question coming solely from an artistic and designers standpoint, not addressing business practices of a designer.

As with every industry there is always good and great. Good is adequate, it gets the job done. Money in your pocket. But great, is doing more than what you have to. Going beyond the menial task and treating it as less of a job and more of an expression.

A good and great designer is one who appreciates the process and respects themselves enough to learn the skills and take their art seriously, never letting the "work" sacrifice the passion.

David loves sci-fi, Ashley hates it. So therefore we don't watch a lot of it. ;) However, Ashley recently loosened up a bit and began watching Fringe. and she likes it.

the last movie we watched. "Youth in Revolt"

we love michael cera and can't wait for the arrested development movie.

No engineer. Not that smart. Just two entrepreneurs and graphic/web designers. We work from our home office and we love it.

On a side-note, we play Settlers because David's brother was patient enough to teach us. We haven't been patient enough to teach anyone else yet.

Umm, tried to think of something clever, but just too drunk from my bad-a whiteness microbrew.

    8. David + Ashley

We are so down with the whiteness. In fact, David Sedaris is our uncle. Sarah Silverman invited us over to dinner the other night, but we were busy watching one of Wes Anderson's "droll" films on our imac, while eating authentic sushi made with organic rice and sipping the finest microbrew we bought from the food co-op.

Ashley is about as white as they come, but David is more of a coconut (Mexican on the outside, white on the inside).

Do you care to join us next Sunday at our super special secret breakfast spot, for a free-trade gourmet coffee while we peruse the New York Sunday Times?

    9. David + Ashley

Over breakfast one Sunday morning as we read the New York Times, we were discussing the closure of so many newspapers and how we enjoy the simple act of sitting down to read the paper. The "marketplace" section was a proverbial graveyard.

Sunday also happens to be the time when we find ourselves out vintage shopping the most.

Haha. This is probably mostly due to the fact that I am addicted to the iphone and best cam app. Note to self...change out of work clothes (sweatpants, yoga pants, thermals) and show more pics of self (ashley). :)

    12. David + Ashley

Lots! Mostly client design work, we work a lot. Blogging, hanging out with our brothers (we both have 2 brothers), playing games (settlers of catan, skipbo, nerts, etc), going to the movies and out to eat. We love to go out to eat.

We also have an undying passion for travel. Our favorite place to date? NYC. ;)

    13. David + Ashley

Hmm. Well, most likely not for about 7 years. We decided when we got married (3 yrs ago) that we wanted to wait 10 years, allowing us time to build our relationship and do things we wouldn't be able to do as freely once we had kids.

We love to travel. We also love being able to take all the time needed to build our businesses.

In essence, we just aren't ready. :)

    14. David + Ashley

When we met, Ashley was a touring singer/songwriter and she happened to be playing at a venue where I (David) lived. A friend and I went to her show and afterward her band invited us to go bowling. We went and then we began talking for the next several months and the rest is history. :)
