I once had my photos displayed at a studio art gallery for week or so, it was really cool! I want to do stuff like that again someday and get my work out there. My dream is to get it in a magazine someday. :)

Yes! I really am. I added a new lens to it, and it's quieter than what I was used to and has been fun. I can't wait to really get to know this camera, and produce the best I can with it and be creative and just continue my photography passion. :)

If you want to go half auto, half manual, I always use AV on mine, which is aperture priority, so that I can set the Aperture to the widest. I suppose it depends on your camera, but go into settings and mess with stuff, see what you like.
Shutter - how fast it captures the subject
ISO - how sensitive it is to light (fast or slow on "sucking" in light)
F-stop (aperture) - How much light goes in (wide aperture lets in more light, allowing you to speed up the shutter or lower the ISO)
Exposure - who much is exposed, but I like to keep that at 0.
Not sure if any of that helps, but it's hard to write it out, and easier to show. :( -

Honestly, I very often use auto focus for that. I take quite a lot until I get just the right focus. Even when I'm using a wide aperture and the DOF is small, I'll just take until it looks right. For face shots, that is. But anything else I use manual or auto, whatever works. XD Hope that answers your question properly!
