Great question, anonymous accepted (I assume) student! Capstones are obligatory and vary by major. You can be VERY creative with your capstone if you want to combine the capstones for your two majors. Hope this helps, KBer

You can't do that, in your freshman year, so...Yes, unheard of.

Great question anonymous prospective student!
Skidmore is the best. I love the academic life here so much. There's no pressure to compete with your peers. Academy here is set up so you reach your personal best with the help of your professors and your classmates. No one is talking about how you did on the last paper your sociology prof handed back last class. Instead, everyone is talking about the African drum ensemble the music department brought in to play in Zankel two nights ago. Which brings me to my next point. While visiting other schools, the vibe was that studying is the absolute priority and all time outside of class is spent in the library or in the dorm studying. Here at Skidmore, the main thought process is: " I have a lot of work to do, but there's a Yiddish clarinet group playing in Filene tonight, I want to go to that. So I'll go to the concert and stay up late studying." The process involves shaping the cultural person as well as the intellectual person. Based on Hamilton and NWU, I have no idea how we compare, honestly. But I could not be happier than I currently am academically here at Skidmore.

Hi Tahmeed, is there an e-mail I can contact you at? I'd rather not post mine in such a public forum, because a LOT of prospective students can see this. If you Formspring me your e-mail address, I won't post the Formspring question on my blog, I'll just e-mail you right away.

Well, even if you're not a prospective student and are actually a student at Skidmore, you needn't worry! Everyone at Skidmore is überaccepting and loving! If you're into this type of thing (I'm not but a lot of people go), Skidmore has the Skidmore Pride Alliance every Monday.
If you have any more questions, let me know.

It's no different then if I had come out of the closet as a flaming heterosexual. People treat me mostly the same.

Hi there!
I thought this was a fun question from Formspring, so I decided to answer it briefly.
Yes, I made 2 New Year's rezzies this year: Giving up soda and starting to work out at least every other day.
I've stuck to them so far! So that's good.

Great question, anonymous prospective student?
I'm not sure that answering this Formspring question will inform your decision in coming here, but whatever.
Definitely not The Twilight Saga. Poorly written series that emphasizes how important it is to have a boyfriend. While that is a very important part of one's life, there are other things that take priority.
The child inside me wants me to say Harry Potter all the way, since I grew up with it and can take almost any conversation down a path that will end with a hilarious hippogriff drinking a butter beer in the Leaky Cauldron reference and we'll all laugh, sit back, and fondly remember our first time with Harry. My first time with Harry was in my friend's attic, actually. A group of my friends had formed this club and every week we'd go up to his attic and read Harry. We thought we were such badasses, reading Harry Potter in the attic like it wasn't no thang. I loved the books and movies and sobbed when I saw the final installment of the film series alone, in June or July or whatever. I LOL'd when I saw Twilight.
However, the young peace-minded adult in me wants to say The Hunger Games. First of all, the books are incredible. There's no arguing that the books are not better written than Twilight, and in some cases, better than a few of the Harry Potter books. The book's lightning fast paced plot draws you in like a leech draws blood from a wound back in 1776. You get so sucked into the books that when you start reading at, say, 9pm, it only seems like two minutes until you finish the book at 3am. The book's messages of peace and promotion of government reform hit home with our nation's current scheisse show of affairs.
Okay, no more procrastination, I have to study,
I'd say The Hunger Games.

Great question anonymous Skidmore student!
As a theatre major here at Skidz, I'm not exactly sure yet. I mean, I have specific goals I'd like to eventually accomplish. But I'm not sure if I want to concentrate in acting, directing, or playwriting. Obviously, I've been in a workshop already and am directing a show that opens next week and am working on writing a new two-man play. For right now, I'm trying to fully immerse myself in the theater and arts culture here in a way I could never do at home on Long Island. For now, I'd say my main goal as a theatre major are simply to get my foot in the door in developing relationships with each of the professors, and learning everything theatre-related my nearly 19 year old mind can handle. I have big plans for what I want to do with ADS Benefit over the next four years, and hope to be a successful actor or director in the theater department. I can't decide if I want to go abroad or not (even though I totally do). I don't know. That's my thoughts on majoring in theater for now. -
doubt, angels in america, i am my own wife, fences, absurd person singular.

I'm glad you caught it, but it's not a reference to Wicked, despite that it's actually a reference to Twelfth Night as well. Wicked took the quote from Tweltfh Night and did its own spin on it.

Great question, APS (Anonymous Prospective Student)! Are people born sassy? Or is sassiness thrust upon them? I'd like to think I was born this way.
