the other boleyn girl (book) is WAY better than its movie. All my friends who loved the movie kept going on about it so i watched it last year, and i was like, you are missing out man. the book is WAY better. i'll check out A dangerous method, thanks for the recommendation! :)

      anytime :)
I've actually only read norwegian wood, sputnik sweetheart, and 1Q84 from him. 1Q84 is loosely related to 1984, and REALLY LONG, but as always the story is far removed from reality. Let me know what you think of 1984!

three i think. they're all distinctly different cuts but unfortunately when i wear them on separate days noone seems to be able to tell the difference and assumes i don't wash my jeans :( guess walking around on two blue legs is pretty generic image.

hi anon, that was REALLY fast! haha. okay i also love the other boleyn girl which is an amalgamation of tudor dynasty politics and romance (but i think its more a 'girl' book, know what i mean?) the book is WAY better than the movie.if you like this you may also try The White Queen (centered around the war of the roses aka the cousin's war, the story of elizabeth woodsville, yorks vs lancasters etc) and which i liked because it offered an alternative reading on my A level literature text, Richard III. Also, the prequel to The other boleyn girl- try The constant princess, story of Katherine of Aragon and her marriage to Arthur and then Henry VIII.

      otherwise:

-bossypants by tina fey (autobiographical, i think. not sad, this one is just really funny and witty)

-one day by David Nicholls (rom com of novels, but i really liked it)

-sputnik sweetheart by haruki murakami (found it very mesmerizing but it doesn't make much sense you have to be ok with it not making much sense logic wise. bought it before my flight to hongkong and couldn't put it down so i was completely stoned during my first day there cos i didnt sleep on the plane haha)

-a million little pieces by james frey (think you might like this, but it can be a little disturbing. if you like this, also read My Friend Leonard, the sequel. Its supposedly a more 'guy' book but i liked it very much)

-Game of Thrones series (all my guy friends love this so much, its so epic, but it CAN get a little draggy so if you have no tolerance for the long drawn novels just watch the tv series lol)

-Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (read this when i was going through my 'dystopian novel' phase, its a classic.)

-1984 (also dystopian, classic book, EPIC must read.)

      - The importance of being Ernest by Oscar Wilde (another classic play, found this hilarious, speech patterns quirky. read this during my 'plays' period, when i didnt have time for full novels. also, "top girls"by Caryl churchill which was my A level text, "A streetcar named desire" by Tennessee Williams, "pygmalion" by George bernard shaw)

-The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (fiction, loved this so so so much, so much good stuff going on in this book, i read the e-copy then loved it so much i went to buy the hard copy)

      - Flowers in the Attic (disturbing but very mesmerizingly haunting. something of an old school book, popular during my mother's schoolgirl days)

ok sorry this turned out so much longer than i intended. also please let me know if you enjoy any of them! :)

seasonally- sometimes i go every few days, and other times i don't go for months on end

    12. Jemimah

      YES YES YES

G gave me my copy and i read it on the plane, LOVED it, loved the writing style, the fragmented timelines, the clashing of realities from different individuals, the elegant sadness in the way everything came together. i find it hard to believe the movie could outdo the book, although it seems to have a pretty damn good cast (i.e. SANDRA BULLOCK, love her)

i download a lot of books but this is one i would like to have the hard copy of, i think. if you know me in real life, ask me for it and i'll lend it to you. otherwise, borrow it off a friend or buy it, its the kind of book you can read over and over.
