I moved to England as a student. I did an MA in English Literature at the University of Sussex in Brighton in 1999-2000.

I would suggest taking a look at the sponsors at UKScrappers to see what's on offer -- and you'll find plenty of discussions about the kits on the boards.

I've never subscribed to a kit club because I love to pick all the bits and pieces rather than be surprised! But I know many scrappers who swear by the subscription option.

I met him when he was working in a record store and I was rebuilding my music collection. I was quite embarrassed to be buying albums I felt I should already own and he was exceedingly polite about it, which earned him the name 'Exceedingly Polite HMV Boy' for quite a while because I didn't know his actual name and was too shy to ask.

By the time we actually found ourselves going on a date, I assumed as a record store employee that I could just ramble on about music all night and have plenty to discuss. It was only after two or three dates that he admitted he had no clue about the majority of the bands I was referencing.

      See: Exceedingly Polite.

This is a harder question than I thought. I'm not really a favourite shop girl, I suppose. More a little of this, a little of that and a little of something else. I love vintage shops (Pop on Monmouth Street is probably my favourite) and markets, but I will also shop at Monsoon, Urban Outfitters and Gap sometimes. I lovelovelove Japanese fashion, so shop online for that and sometimes find something in Chinatown...though I mostly get distracted by the food when I am there!

One benefit of being short is that I can shop in the children's section of some shops. Some of my absolute favourite things come from Monsoon Kids, because they use the most amazing prints that never make it into their grown-up collections.

      toboggan.
also, the word macadamia makes me want to tap dance. i cannot say that word and stand still at the same time.

      Fluently, just English.
I can get by in Spanish but I mess up tenses all the time because it's so rare that I use it.
I can speak a little Icelandic. It took me three hours to learn how to say something like 'My name is Shimelle, I live in London and I am a teacher' so I wouldn't say I was a very good student.
And I can ask for a cup of coffee in French and Japanese. Priorities!

I wore contacts for several years as a teenager when I went through my 'I don't want to be a geek' phase and stopped because I had a really terrible experience when I got something under the lens and scratched my cornea. After that I had so much trouble that I just decided I would embrace glasses.

But funnily enough I just recently bought some contacts -- about three weeks ago! The only time my glasses annoy me is for more active stuff and skiing with glasses is pretty much impossible: wear goggles and be blind or wear glasses and be frozen! And they had fallen off one too many times in dance class too. So now I have contacts for that...but of course I'm not used to it so I am constantly trying to push my glasses back on my face and when they aren't there. That's not geeky at all, I'm sure!

I am five feet, two inches and maybe a tiny portion of an inch if I stretch up as tall as I can. So not very tall. And it is very rare to find me in heels.
