SHiFT is about empowerment, and at times of recession this is more important than ever.
We're dedicating SHiFT, at the turn of this decade, to Doing It Yourself. To figuring out what "Do It Yourself" means to you.
We want SHiFT 2010 to be a journey on how to empower us, as individuals, anywhere to thrive in this knowledge society we live in, simply using the tools and resources available. Our goal is to inspire you to find new and creative solutions to problems.
During 2 days, along the conference, workshops, between the inevitable hall conversations and exhibitions we'll try to help clear the path on how to apply this DIY motto on four areas of expertise: Internet, Business, Design and Communication. -
The first domino piece to fall was thanks to Reboot 2005, when Pedro Custódio and André Ribeirinho met Laurent Haug who would launch LIFT in the coming year. It was there that they both met Hugo Neves da Silva and first became aware of the need for such a conference to happen in Lisbon. Bruno Figueiredo, founding member of the Portuguese Usability Professionals Association, joined the group and it wasn't long until the first SHiFT 2006 with around 180 participants from around the world.
In a nutshell, SHiFT began because 4 friends got together, realised the need for a greater level of discussion in Portugal and accepted the challenge to take the project forward. Today, SHiFT is organized by a group of 10 individuals and owes it's success to the growing number of participants as well as to the engagement they display in supporting the project. -
SHiFT is a unique event that gathers thought leaders and participants from all walks of life to share and discuss Social and Human Ideas For Technology.
