Because tentacles are as beautiful and remarkable as they are creepy and neat.

I am a music omnivore- my favourite genre is jazz (especially big band), and my default station is CBC radio 3 (I've got a weak spot for Canadian music and that should not be a surprise to anyone). My favourite singers/bands are The Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies, Stan Rogers, and Sam Roberts, and recently I've realized that the sound I tend to go for is "folk."

All that aside, lately all I've been listening to are geek-music mashups and remixes, the Star Wars soundtracks, the same four James Taylor songs, and music from Portal.

I relate to non-gender/post-gender the most (it's how I identify). However, I couldn't say that I sympathize with any part of the genderqueer community more than any other because I don't- We're all in this together.

I do draw dragons- though maybe not as much or as often as I should. The main monsters in my comic/story Revolution 1 are called Dragons, and I have some traditional dragon characters- here's one from one of my genderqueer fairy tales (drawn in 2007).

YES. I love my name. It is my favourite thing about me.

I do- but more specifically I think there should be more well written, accurately depicted, and fairly represented genderqueer characters (created by genderqueer people) in comics and other media.
I think there is an enormous need for genderqueer characters that are more than just genderqueer- I am always looking to see representations of myself in media, but I am not interesting in "token" genderqueer characters (where genderqueerness is the sum-total of their parts, and they exist only to fill the role of "the genderqueer character"), or "titillating" genderqueer characters (where genderqueerness is mysterious and romanticized [and sometimes fetishized] to cash in on a trend and be edgy, or fill a kink). Just because a character is genderqueer doesn't automatically make that character good (or important, or necessary, or even helpful).
However, I will never say no to more genderqueer characters that are well-rounded, honest, and accurate- That come from a true place that I can relate to, and that speak to more than being genderqueer simply for the sake of being genderqueer.

In short (and understanding that what I'm about to say is not True Facts but My Personal Definitions Of These Words) -

      Gender Binary: A male-mind-in-a-male-body-with-a-male-gender and/or a female-mind-in-a-female-body-with-a-female-gender.

Gender Queer: any and all gender identities that exists outside of those two previously mentioned options. Minds and genders and bodies and expressions that transcend, transition, exchange, rearrange, blur, blend, mix, mess, mash, ignore, (and maybe even abhor) the binary. Gender queer is maybe a catchall or an umbrella term, or it can be an identity in and of itself.

(I feel like it's important for me to add: having a male mind in a male body, or a female mind in a female body, in and of itself, is not a bad thing- it's a wonderful thing, and there is nothing nasty or hateful or privileged or wrong with it. It's just when those are treated like the only two options there are [ignoring all the other wonderful identities that exist within this massive thing called "gender queer"] that it becomes a problem and something that needs changing.)

I WISH the dog was my dog- unfortunately, she belongs to my sister (who honestly won the dog lottery with this dog) (even though Tiki has burped in my face on more than one occasion) (gross Tiki) (super gross) (aw no I didn't mean it come here I love you BELLY RUBS)

In a nutshell Decemberwe'en is a homemade Christmas stand-in because I'm a.) not a religious/spiritual person by even the remotest stretch of the imagination, b.) still want to give people I care about gifts, c.) want an excuse to keep my Hallowe'en decorations up from September-January.
