Well, like most young guys growing up in the 70's at the start of the personal computer revolution, I have always been into computers and playing computer games, and though I was always interested in how they were made, as I was an avid computer programmer, for some reason I never pursued a career in developing games until about three years ago.
It all came about when I bought my first Mac, which lead me to find an amazing game engine called Unity (www.unity3d.com). As soon as I saw what Unity could do and how easy it made the black art of game design for inspiring game developers I jumped right in and decided that my company (Sector3) that at the time was an Animation and Visual FX company was going to start making computer games!
It was that simple! And three years on, I have closed down my animation business and now I make computer games by myself for a living. It's like all my childhood dreams come true! Except for the being a millionaire part ! -
Yeah, I think making computer games rocks! It allows me to be both technical and creative at the same time which I love, and it also allows me to keep on the cutting edge of technology.
It does have its challenges though, especially when you are an Indie developer like I am. There is only so many hours in the day and way too many ideas in my head!
I really cant think of anything else I would rather be doing (work wise) than making games. Especially my own games!
Thanks for being the first to ask a Question!
