During the day events you should wear comfortable shoes that you can walk/run in. During the night events, you should dress to impress... which means you can wear shoes that are much fancier and fashionable.

If you look up information about Mardi Gras in a search engine, you will find many pictures of what people would wear in the carnival! A basic guideline includes beads and bright colours. If you can't think of anything... just try to look good!

You will wear the FROSH group costumes during the daytime events! At the night event you will be wearing clothes according to the themes of the night events, and not your group themes.

Your leaders should let you know what you need to wear to dress up. You will most likely be dressing up in your theme group in the daytime!

A large backpack enough to fit your clothes and toiletries for 3 days and 2 nights will be sufficient! Some FROSHEES like to bring duffle bags, others might bring a small suitcase suitable for carry on in a plane. Here's an example of something that might work: http://www.canadanorthface.com/images/North-Face-Sweeper-Backpacks-Red-gray.jpg

Also, you are encouraged to bring a cellphone that you can carry with you during the event for emergency use.

A simple dress shirt & pants would work! However, you could wear a suit if you think you're up for it ;). Wear whatever you think will be impressive on the dance floor and fit the theme!

We have spoken to the UBC Housing office, and they indicated that students can move in at 9:00am irregardless of their unit number. We believe the staggered time is simply a suggestion. Please call the FROSH helpline at 1-888-502-5092 if you face any issues during move in and need assistance. You can also contact UBC housing yourself at http://www.housing.ubc.ca.

A detailed itinerary for FROSHEES will be provided at the beginning of FROSH. The full itinerary is top secret and we cannot post it publicly! We hope you understand ;)

If you are a little late, say 10:30pm, we may still have FROSH leaders there picking up students. If you cannot move in on time, please fill out the Late Sign In form to let us know the details: http://sauderfrosh.com/froshee/latesignin.html

It is standard for events that involve large groups to include a waiver form. This is especially true when there will be many minors attending the event. The waiver does not make us less responsible: it simply assures that everyone who attends the event, including the student volunteers, will be protected. We want to also make it clear that it is up to the student to party responsibly.

At FROSH, there will never be any dangerous or harmful activities. All of our events are supervised by a professionally certified first aid team, and over 200 trained volunteers and leaders. In addition to that, our night events are exclusive to FROSH only, and we have professionally hired security companies to maintain everyone's safety and well-being.

That being said, this is an orientation event, and at times the hype and excitement combined with the irresponsible behaviour of some individuals have lead to minor injuries. This is why we collect emergency information and medical information: we want to make sure that we are prepared for everything.

We're sorry, but FROSH is reserved for Sauder students only, as there is very high demand for this event.

We may have a few extra t-shirts in case this happens. However, please note that others may have the same issue as well, so we may not have enough t-shirts if multiple people have this problem. Please check your shirt size carefully, and you should be fine.

Good news! As of July 10th, we have opened registration to 3rd year transfer students. If you are a new student at Sauder, or you are transferring to Sauder from a pre-commerce program from another University or faculty, you are eligible for FROSH!

You will not miss any AMS First Week events, as AMS First Week occurs from Sept 6th to Sept 10th! As for residence, if you are in a first year residence (Totem Park or Place Vanier) you may miss your first dinner with your floor-mates. However, you would not miss any mandatory meetings and will be able to attend most of the events!

For more information about UBC Housing's events, visit http://www.housing.ubc.ca/before-moving-in/first-week

You will have plenty of opportunities to meet people outside of Sauder at Imagine Day, AMS First Week, many other events! Since you will be living in Residence, you will likely be very close to many of your floor-mates and residence neighbours! Luckily, Sauder FROSH does not overlap much with other orientations.

The feedback we've received from past years for people who missed FROSH however, is that they started regretting it when people are still talking about the crazy things that happened on FROSH weekend a month after the event ;)
