Yes, I always spot meter on the 1v, typically off the subject's face. I'm looking for the reading to be +2 or +3 depending on their fairness. Occasionally I'll take a reading off my palm, again keeping in mind my palm is lighter than a grey card.

I didn't actively pursue weddings until I had done a handful of them for friends. Very first wedding, I was a guest, and sent the images to the bride as a gift. She liked the images more than the hired photographer's images, and decided to put them in her album instead.
I used images from the first few weddings to get steady work at a few wedding studios, which helped my portfolio as a result. After a year of shooting for other people, I went into business for myself. -
Because we were living in Jersey at the time, and didn't want to raise our family there. We needed a change of scene and Seattle was our next stop. :)

With my university job, I can afford to be more selective this year. Fewer than ten. My first year, I shot close to 40.

I used one way back when I first started, but even then only occasionally. For receptions, I'd have 1-2 speedlights off-camera triggered via PW. Nowadays, I'm trying to simplify. My video light is getting more love. It depends on the venue.

Nothing planned, but I know that Tony Yang is keen. Is there interest? :)

Thanks! Canon 1V, 35L and 50 1.4.

I love it. I'm teaching one conversation class, and two English News Listening classes. I've always seen myself teaching at the university level, but never thought I'd be doing it before I turned 30.
I teach three mornings a week and have the rest of the week to focus on my photography and my family. My wife teaches three afternoons a week, so we are quite lucky in that regard; one of us will always be with the kids. 4 months of paid vacation is quite nice, too. :) -
Thanks so much! I'll be teaching at a university starting next week, and this will substantially free up my schedule for blogging, etc.

I do occasionally. I'm in the market for a Mamiya. I've heard great things about their 80mm f/1.9. I used a friend's Contax for some of the portraits in this wedding: http://rominlee.com/BORA-DAVID-WOON-HYUN-PALACE-SEOUL-KOREA

Most of the time, though I''ve done plenty of weddings solo. It's mostly for the clients' peace of mind.

It depends. Tri-x about a stop; hp5, half a stop.
