Firstly adoption is a process I would consider only through more detail of the process. The location, the surrounding rules, the budgets in relation to security and routine. Names that spring to mind would all change after factoring in various things but I do not see to much of a problem in renaming unless of course their age is such the new accepted pet doesn't respond to anything other than its other name, I kinda like Tessla though or Bucky.
