Thank you!
I also want to say that I am now using the Tumblr version of this. If you want to ask on there, just go to http://reflux.tumblr.com/ask -
The B stands for basic. This is to distinguish myself from EMT-P which means Paramedic. I add the B for accuracy so as not to confuse people into thinking I'm a paramedic.

Thanks for the encouragement. There are definitely times when I need it.

It's not too bad. I still have some residual swelling, but there isn't much in the way of pain like before. Now it only hurts when I'm doing something stupid like trying to pick up stuff that I know I shouldn't.
Overall, though, I'm thinking that I've been resting it pretty well and that it will be back to 100% soon. -
I do, even though I'm not a big fan of them. This is a New Year's resolution only because I am unable to implement it at any other time: I will not fall behind in school this term. I am going to be on the ball and accomplish things before I need to.
-
Thank you. I'm glad someone would think that about me.
-
I don't either, but we need taxes because we need to pay for the commons (police and fire, for example), so I will not complain about it.
-
Yup. I'm getting up early as well. Have a good one! This has been fun.
-
We can hope. Let's work together to help tear down walls and increase understanding.
-
Exactly.
We all need to come to this one simple realization: we are all human beings. "We all bleed the same red blood."
This reminds me of something my anatomy professor said: "When you look under the skin, we're all the same." I think that we need to realize this.
But until people realize that life isn't about monetary wealth but rather intellectual and emotional wealth, we will be destined to repeat this same vicious cycle that has played through the millenia. -
OMG!!! YOU'RE SO OLD!!! Haha! Just kidding!
You're right about the advantages of communication. We have planted the seeds now for an amazing future. Hopefully our kids take the wheel and drive us towards the progress and peace that we have worked so hard for. I don't expect it to be our generation that does it, but maybe our kids or their kids will achieve John Lennon's dream of utopia so elegantly described in "Imagine." -
Haha! I do feel like an old man when I talk about the "good 'ole days," but I also think that we have caught up.
I personally use the word "cool." I don't care if anyone else does.
One thing that I have to say is that we are a different generation. A seven year old today has more potential than when I was seven because s/he has the potential to be so well-connected. There is a wealth of information out there. My biggest fear is that every generation is going to get successively lazier and more impatient because we have adapted ourselves to this society that puts immediate results above actual results. -
I would have to agree with you on that point. I do think that Darwin was making a bit of an assumption in his work, though. I think he believed that Homo sapiens are the highest form of evolution possible. I don't think he seriously would have considered the idea that humanity itself could be evolving to an even higher form.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared about our future, but I'm also excited to see what will become of us: the generation that shrunk the world and made it byte-sized. (Pardon the pun) -
Exactly. I do fear, however, that this level of personal-yet-still-impersonal interaction that we have been able to create using the Internet is going to hurt us in the long run.
I've already started to see differences in the next generation. I remember when I was a little kid. I had video games, yes, but more often than not, I was outside playing baseball or at a park with my friends. I got exercise and was very active.
Now, we have video games and computers that foster different styles of friendships. Kids can be best friends with people from across the world and spend hours with them, yet never spend more than ten minutes with the kid living next door. These kids don't get the exercise that they need because they live in a virtual world where friendships are forged without ever actually meeting each other in real life.
I don't think it's a bad thing to have such interconnected relationships because it fosters global understanding in a way that is very real. Instead of reading about cultures, we are able to interact with them in real time. And this is the beauty of social networking. -
I find that I am a bit more genuine here than I am around others because I don't have any pressures from my peers to conform to "their" standards. I find that I am able to be myself virtually better than I am able to be myself organically.
-
I'm sure something awesome will come out of this for you. You're welcome for the support.
I have personally found that more people on Tumblr care about my well-being and my life than some people I know in real life. I want to give others the support that they give me.
