There are A LOT of things you should know before hiring a photographer. I think a super important thing to remember is you get what you pay for. Make sure you budget for a photographer, they are the LAST thing you want to skimp on in your budget. Low cost photography is probably going to be low quality. I'd say budget for a few hundred dollars more than you'll think you'll pay in case you need extra coverage or decide you want an add on.

Meet your photographer in person before signing a contract with them (also make sure they have a contract). You're essentially hiring a wedding guest, so you want to make sure they're someone you get along with and doesn't bug you because they're going to be right behind you. All. Day.

Make sure you really look at their packages, know what you're getting. Some photographers don't include the digital negatives in packages and you might just be paying for coverage. That's a stinky thing to find out after the fact.

Don't settle! You only get married ONCE. In the grand scheme of things the amount you pay your photographer is not very much money and it will be well worth it 30 years down the road. You WILL regret hiring your cousin. I guarantee that (unless your cousin is a professional photographer).

      Hope that helps!

I just want to be happy with what I do always. I don't have anything grand schemed up in my head like being world famous or becoming the next american idol. I DO really want to go to Europe in the next few years, switzerland is calling my name.

Train tracks. Next to a wheat field. With hay bales.

But seriously, I don't know, I really enjoy everywhere we shoot. I like picking a good area of a city and wandering and shooting as we wander. It's fun to me to see what pops out as we walk.

I like this question:) We met through a mutual friend here in Idaho during a break between school semesters at a bon fire. We started facebook chatting with each other a lot and became pretty good friends. Then a few weeks later both of us ended up moving to Salt Lake, had no other friends there, and hung out all the time. We realized we couldn't get enough of each other and started officially "dating" a few weeks later. We actually had a suuuuper short dating/engagement period. Like..crazy short. The time between when we started dating and got married was about 3 months! We just love each other a lot. We actually haven't spent a day apart since we started dating. Crazy!

I vaguely remember cutting my forehead open with a bunny necklace at my brother's pinewood derby race haha, swinging hard plastic objects into your face is never a good idea.

group shots.formals. whatever you choose to call them. haha it seems like that's what families save all their cheeky comments and photography knowledge for.

Thanks! We shoot on Canon 5d mark II's. We love them. We just work with what we have around us, we pose people, and wait until it looks right. It's mostly just a lot of winging it that turns out good!

I love working with the people that we do! You can't beat working with someone on the happiest day of their life. Working with Chad is pretty OK too, it's so much better than the days when I ran the business solo before I knew him, fewer awkward moments with groomsmen trying to ask me out. Being pregnant also kills a lot of that. But hands down, I just love creating beautiful pictures that make people happy :)

To always be a good, kind person. I feel like if you treat others well and are kind, good things will come your way. I don't believe in being selfish.
