Best: If I said it here it would be lewd. Worst: Oil.

The whole "Asians are automatically good at math / video games / martial arts / etc." stereotype, for one. Even if the stereotype's sorta dwindled down in recent years, it bothers me to see comments like "oh for Asian people this crazy hard game is training" and the like.

Fuck Giant Tetris. I wish Tetris TGM4 came out instead of this; gimmicky games are only so appealing.

Read books, obviously. Even manga and Western comics are doable in the absence of electricity.

(I'm really terrible at coming up with good answers to good questions especially on Formspring where I feel very rushed to come up with an anshwer, so please bear with me if I sound pathetic.)
Part of it is the same sort of appeal that comes with three-dimensional rail shooters. I feel like games that put the player on a fixed path allow developers to come up with some cool enemy and bullet patterns, the inherent fun of which would be lost if the player was allowed to roam freely. There's something about the fixed-pace nature of these sorts of games that provide a nice balance of fun and tension.
Then there's the danmaku sub-genre, as much as I dislike it for being overhyped at times and giving people bad impressions of the whole genre. Bullet hell patterns, to me, are more like puzzles: it's less about squeezing through tiny gaps and more about figuring out the safest and most efficient path through each pattern. Two of Flandre's spellcards in TH06 come to mind: Laevatein and Maze of Love. If you just try to dodge them straight, you probably won't stand a chance. But once you figure out their secrets, suddenly they make a lot more sense. Maybe not a lot more easier in the case of MoL, but you at least know what you're supposed to do.
I also enjoy the no-nonsense nature of arcade(-style) shooting games. At any given time, there's always something meaningful going on, instead of many minutes of nothingness.
Then there's playing for score, especially on more involved scoring systems like those of some CAVE games and Eschatos. Playing for score requires that you not just aim and shoot without getting killed, it also tends to involve coming up with clever strategies and pulling together a wonderful-looking performance to achieve record scores. While most players just see score as a meaningless number, a good scoring system can help distinguish one shmup from others in its own unique way.
Finally, there's the whole two-dimensional aspect. It's a lot easier to make a good and fun game in two dimensions than three, especially on a two-dimensional screen. -
Hmm, do I really wanna challenge X3-spicy at On The Bridge?

I prefer "automatic new game" a la Sonic Colors and Generations, with the tutorial bits being optional. But it depends on the genre, really; that sort of thing is more for action- and mission-oriented games. I can understand Persona 3 and 4, for instance, giving you some time before your first battle: it's to fit into the idea of being oriented with the school and the city before settling in, much like in real life.

I dreamt Sayaka (Miki) was a good family friend of mine who was moving away, so I gave her a card that I wrote and she really liked it, so we spent one last afternoon together, running down some sort of boardwalk by the sea. It was really sweet and it felt like I had known her for a long time, even though in this dream I had only known her for a year.

From time to time, but then I remind myself that people are not my property or otherwise mine to command.

Why these sort of intrusive questions exist in Formspring's pool of random default questions is beyond me. Although then again, one could play the "you don't have to answer" card...

What do you think of games having modern remixes of classic songs? I don't mind them if they're catchy, well-done, and fit the game well. People are freaking out over DS3's trailer, but I don't mind it. Baba O' Riley in the NFSMW trailers were great IMO. [6]

It really depends. Some arranges are pretty good, others have me scrambling for the original, sometimes I like both equally.

I don't use question-asking social services very frequently, mostly because I can never find or come up with good questions.
