if we had effective and fair trade mechanisms (like barter) then yeah sure, otherwise it wouldn't reward innovation enough and we'd just be a mediocre society.

i would say yes. there is no god in buddhism, but there is a core set of beliefs that have to be taken on faith alone, there is a moral code, there are supernatural powers, etc.
