I did have several other choices. I'm not sure if you want to hear what they are but I'll just say why I chose UCI for now LOL. Out of the colleges I was accepted to I was most familiar with UCI. I did a summer program here summer after my junior year of HS and lived on campus (middle earth-harrowdale) for a month. so I had a general idea of what the campus was like and where some buildings are and such. Since I was already familiar with this campus and I didn't have any problems with this campus, I chose UCI. Since I'm here, I'll have to believe that God wanted me to come here as well XD

I was born in California, USA and have lived here for basically all my life. I went to Korea twice. Once just for a summer vacation trip and my second time I stayed for a year and taught English at an academy. So instead of going to UCI right after high school I went to Korea. I wanted to dorm but UCI didn't know what to call me at first because I'm sort of a continuing student because I deferred my first year but I'm also a freshman unit wise and such. It was hard for me to contact UCI housing from Korea because I had to wait till 2AM Korea time just to call UCI and yeah it quite a few tries. By the time UCI gave me the okay to dorm on campus, there was already a waiting list....

I'm in South Korea because my aunt owns an English Academy here. I came here to work at the English Academy and I get paid pretty well. My aunt needed a native speaker to be a teacher and I fit that category. I'm sure my aunt could have found someone else but this is a pretty good opportunity for me too. I get paid well, live abroad by myself, learn to survive on my own, learn more Korean, get to know my family here better, and take a break from school.

Trust me I was pretty bummed about not going to UCI. In my opinion, I worked pretty hard in High School. Of course, I'm sure I could have done better but still. I was pretty sad that the class of 2011 would be going to school and such creating new college experiences and I would be missing out on everything. I'm already pretty old for my age and now I'm going to be even older. I would also miss my friends terribly D;

I guess you could say my mom convinced me to come here. I worked it out with UCI so that I could start next year. (I hope... not really that sure T.T I signed some paper but yeah I don't really understand what's happening with that) At first, I was reluctant and nervous to come here by myself. After I got adjusted here, I got used to it. It was a nice stress reliever. I mean I miss my friends everyday over here and the time difference definitely sucks but I'm enjoying my time here. Well at the moment it's FREEZING (Cali weather made me a wimp) and I don't have many friends here but it's interesting.
