Given he was a deity representative of (among other things) music, writing, wisdom, medicine, and drawing, I'm definitely a big fan of Thoth. There are also some pretty cool Thoth-related Egyptian artefacts out there. The depictions of Thoth as a baboon are particularly interesting.

I'm not sure how this counts, but there was a REAL pharaoh named Unas who had a mythical legend built around him. The Egyptian gods were in fact mortal and could be killed, and the Egyptians had a degree of knowledge (and wonderment) about human organs. It was said that Unas killed the Egyptian gods and ate their organs to become immortal.
One of the more famous songs from Nile is the 11 minute "Unas Slayer of the Gods", their longest songs about that very subject. If I get my way, I would have a band and give them such a title. That's right, WE SLAY GODS! -
