Well, that's horrifying. So, at four in the morning, my cat is racing around the house and making lots of noise. Turns out he's playing with this terrified mouse. And then he gets bored and lets the mouse go. So, after chasing this miserable asshole of a mouse for an hour, I finally forced it into an empty soup container with a hand broom. I wanted to kill it and put it out of its misery, but I couldn't think of how to go about the matter. So I tied the whole business into a plastic bag and threw it down the trash shoot. And felt really guilty about it later.

You know, sometimes I'm glad I live in a country where the weather is crap all the time. It means we don't get things like that coming into our homes - praise be!
Is that real? In the UK the two species of snakes resident are only found in rural locations and they don't bother with houses.
