    No, although we do use them interchangeably. When you presume, it means you believe something to be true without proof (or until proof shows you otherwise). When you assume (other than making an ass out of u and me) it means to suppose something is true without checking for sure. At least that is my understanding. It's been a long time since I actually took any "English" classes so who knows ahahaha
