I wasn't there, and the evidence is so old that I'm not sure we'll ever know.

I think she died the same way a lot of terribly famous people do. She took drugs to cope with her stardom and met an untimely doom.

Well, it's hard to say. It could be either of above and it's has been discussed for many years. The official cause of death is "suicide". After all, she was depressive and was receiving psychiatric care when her mood went downhill after her divorce with Arthur Miller, so it's not impossible that it was simply an intended pill overdose and according to sources, she was a subject to moodswings and used to rely on alcohol and pills. So who knows, she might've had a terrible day and decided to end it all. It's hard to prove though and there are several evidence that indicates it could be murder - but my conclusion is still suicide. Only Monroe herself will know the truth, the rest of us can only guess...
Donald Wolfe sums it up: "Marilyn Monroe was in a position to bring down the presidency. She was cognizant of Jack Kennedy's marital infidelities and other private matters. She had his notes and letters and was privy to Kennedy's involvement with Sam Giancana. That the Kennedy brothers had discussed national security matters with the film star added to an astonishing array of indiscretions." - Draw your own conclusions.
The British government took her out to undermine the USA by eliminating the President's primary source of nookie. But you already know that, don't you MI6?
