We here in the UAE go crazy when celebrating the National Day!
Expatriates also celebrate with us and even decorate their cars with the UAE flag colors.
It is probably my favorite day of the year. Actually they celebrate it around 2 weeks prior.. up to the actual day. Buildings are decorated, ladies purchase Abayas and Shelas with the UAE colors. Girls wear hair accessories with the patriotic colors. We all feel the excitement!

NO! I like my country and I wish all the best for my country and all the best for the other countries as well. Equality!

I really like @STG4Dummies's quote about Patriotism vs. Nationalism, even though she disagrees with it. She said "The interesting thing, and maybe this is just me, is that I've always felt it was the other way around. Maybe I think that because of wildly patriotic Americans." and I can see why she'd think that, but I actually feel like they're nationalists CALLING themselves patriots.

So to be clear, I agree with the historian.

So by that definition, I am very patriotic as an American. I'm proud of being an American. I frequently hate the citizens of my country for being stupid, closed-minded, etc., but the ideals and beliefs and overall concept of America is something that I can easily get behind. And I know there's a ton of horrible things that have happened here, the same in every country. And I know that a lot of people hate us, and a lot of them have a damn good reason to hate us. And I know that there's a damn lot of fixing that needs to go on here, but I'm willing to TRY to fix it, because I love my country.

And that's just the way it is.
