      why do we kill people to show people that killing people is wrong?

      exactly. i dont think capital punishment is the best solution. But i guess it serves as a warning. When you hang murderers, it is a warning to potential murderers that their actions carry heavy consequences. And its not just about killing the murderers off, its playing with their emotions. They know that their passing would upset their family members etc thus they would think before committing such major offence
