And in my case, I live on the edge of nowhere I already have to drive a significant distance to reach a major bus station, really defeating the purpose. All it really gets me out of is paying for parking, but it's not much more than the bus fare. I'd rather get there in a decent amount of time and with my sanity intact; people blasting their iPods and talking on their cell phones tends to piss me off.

I'm not anti-public-transportation though. Tokyo has awesome public transport, and the people on it, for the most part, have some common courtesy!
