Noukka do you know why my 60D stops the video when its at 10 seconds? It stops sometimes before, sometimes after, i don't know why this happens:( A message appears and it just stops. Thank you:)

That's strange... I had the same thing yesterday though, but at 12 minutes and 33 seconds (how random...) and I thought it was its limit or something, but 10 seconds... Has is to do with your memory card? Maybe it can't process the video as quickly...?
If I look at this video and the info underneath it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqY6EZle9VM It seems I'm right. But that's basically all I could find.
So maybe try buying a faster memory card, I have SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB, it's not their best, but it's pretty good.
Or if you're not sure if that's it, you could try to go to a store, see if you can try out a faster memory card and see if that solves it, before buying :)
Good luck! And let me know if you've solved it! :D

What's the biggest difference you feel from your old camera (XTi) to your new 60D?

Well, my 60D is bigger and has a vari-angular screen, but besides that the biggest difference is the ISO speed and noise quality. I can actually use my ISO on my 60D without making the photo look horribly grainy, as was usually the case with my XTi,
and there's also a difference quality wise, I just mainly remember shooting my first shots and being like "wooaaahh look at the difference" but it's been a while that I shot with my XTi, and I'm still meaning to do a comparison chart some day, like take the exact same shots with the same lens and settings but different camera. I'm a little busy now though...

But yeah, ISO is a difference I really really enjoy :)

A lot of space because I shoot in RAW+JPEG and then considering videos, I don't want to run out of space quickly, the Extreme Pro line because it has a fast transfer and is shock- and waterproof and I don't even know what else, but it sounds great haha :)

I've come across it in reviews a couple of times, with mainly very good stuff :) for the rest, I don't know that much about it, except a few people who got it and are happy with it so yeah :) I'd advice to really really read a couple of reviews, not necessarily to help deciding the buy, but if there's anything you'll like a little less about it, it's nice to know beforehand :)

KEEP IN MIND, that Nikons (often, including this one) don't have the autofocus motor built into the camera, but into the lens, this has a few advantages and disadvantages, the last being that you really have to be careful with choosing a lens, because it needs to have an autofocus motor in there (some secondhand or older lenses might not have that)

If you haven't yet, this is a really nice and very extensive review to read. If you really want you can skip most of the techinical stuff and go to page 9 and 10 where they get into performance
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond3100

Good luck! :D

I have 800$ do buy a camera and a lens, don't know what to go for, i just want to portrait photos, with a nice DOF, and sometimes i do videos too, do you have any idea of a good camera for that?

Well, most new DSLRs have a pretty good video option, as for a portrait lens, I'd go for a 50mm. Considering your budget, I'd choose the f/1.8 as it's a lot cheaper, and still very nice. Its built is somewhat cheaper than the f/1.4 but I've still heard really good things about it. If you'd have the money, I'd say go for the f1.4, it's a lens you'll use A LOT! But the f/1.8 works just fine as well :)
As DSLRs go, I'm mainly familiar with Canon, and with your budget, you can also afford a nice range of them, like the EOS 550D or even the 600D (which has a vari-angular screen, comes in handy with filming!). Because you're pretty specific, it might be helpful to just go to a big big store and ask someone from the camera department, they should be able to give a range of different brands as well, as I'm pretty Canon-orientated, then write some models down, check up on reviews and comparisons, there are LOADS of those around. dpreview.com is a good one. Also read my recent answers about buying a camera, they could be helpful :)
Most entry-level cameras or 'upper entry level' cameras (at least Canons and Nikons that I know of) are pretty great and not that expensive :)
Oh the 50mm f/1.8 vs f/1.4 was with Canon in mind whoops. But still the 50mm with a low f stop number should do the job you want (most of my shots are taken with my 50mm 1.4)
It would be nice to still get the kitlens with it, as you'd probably want to be more flexible in your lens use than just the 50mm :)
And make sure you shop around for a good deal, the prices can really differ!
Also keep in mind that you'd have to buy a memory card, maybe a bag, probably a nice UV filter for your lens (as repairing a lens glass is a lot more expensive than buying a new filter), maybe a tripod, etc.
If you have any specific cameras in mind and would like some opinion on them and their features, you're more than welcome to ask again!
Hope this helped and good luck!! :)

I guess it depends on how you want to use it and stuff, it's a lot easier to give an opinion in relationship to something else opposed to a general "what do you think of it", so if you want, you can be more specific and then I can be more specific :D

I don't think it is, but I'm not familiar with a magnesium alloy besides my sisters camera that I've barely used. The 60D feels pretty sturdy and seems like it could handle bump. It does sometimes get weird white scratches from I don't know what, but you can wipe those away. It just spooked me the first couple of times haha. But yeah, I'm not bothered by the feel at all (which is often the thing in reviews "it feels plastic"), but then again, I'm used to my 400D :)

Thanks! I'm thinking about buying the T3i, which is kinda expensive, buy one lens right now, and buy some other lens later, or buy a T3 and invest a more in lenses. What do you think is best? i'm buying it in the us, not in braz, so any model names are ok

I wouldn't recommend the T3, which in Europe is the 1100D, because I know from the "1000D series" they compromise mostly in build quality of the camera, to be able to make it cheaper, as the 1000 line a reaction to the increasing popularity of DSLRs under "normal" people (as in, not aspiring more with photography/using it for snapshots) and other brands becoming competitors in this range as well. The "100D" series are more for people who'll eventually step up and go to the "10D" or "1D" levels.
This is just Canon's strategy, you obviously don't have to keep to it haha :)
The T3i is a little more expensive, but I personally love the screen, I think it's a huge advantage when taking photos from more difficult angles. And the camera gets fairly close to the 7D and 60D.
But if it doesn't appeal that much to you, I'd dig a little deeper and see if the T1i is something for you: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos500d/
here's T3 to compare: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS1100D/
and a comparison: http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-1100D-vs-Canon_EOS_500D
A good one is the noise in high ISO, where the 1100D wins. But don't let the "maximum ISO" fool you, you'll probably never use it that high because the photos will come out waayy too grainy.
A good one with the 500D is the self-cleaning sensor. I know it cleans the sensor everytime you turn off your camera, I wouldn't even know what it'd be like if it didn't, but I know that dust can even manage to get inbetween my UV filter and lens glass, despite the fact that I practically never take it off, and the sensor can catch dust when you change your lens for example, and it will show on photos.
And again, use flickr's camera finder :)
http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/eos_rebel_t1i/
http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/eos_rebel_t3i/
http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/eos_rebel_t3/
compare the shots you see, the best would be from amateurs who don't edit their photos haha. Otherwise, reviews often have test shots in them, take a good look at them and compare :)
Good luck!

Hi there! Well, I'm a real Canon fan, and I'm not sure which model names Brazil uses, but any camera in the 100D series are good to begin with. The Canon EOS 600D is pretty awesome, with a vari-angular screen and great quality. But one model back (the 550D or even the 500D), they're still great and well affordable. Besides Canon, I'm not so sure what's going in the camera world beside some magazine articles but yeah. www.dpreview.com is a great site to look up reviews, they often compare cameras to each other, and have extensive but not too difficult to understand reviews. Go to the shop and try some demos, or browse flickr's camera finder to see the most popular cameras and the photos taken with them :) Good luck! And if you're doubting between cameras, you're free to ask if I have an opinion on them, I could be a little more specific then :)

how often do you clean your camera sensor and your lenses and how do you do it?

Ugh, not nearly as often as I should. I've never cleaned my 4 year old 400D's sensor, and as I have my 60D only a month orso, there's not really the need now. I am looking for a nice cleaning set, though, but I'm a bit hesitant, afraid I'll break something. And my lens, same story, except of course for the lens glass. I clean that when it's needed, with a special lens cleaning cloth, or well, it's my UV filter I clean, because it's always on, sometimes I take it off and clean the lens as well, since dust still finds a way to get there.

I took one a year ago, which has been the most helpful, but still, the basics, and more then that, I already knew. It was mainly helpful in studio lighting techniques and dark room (I don't have a film camera nor a dark room, but if I did, I could develop photos haha)
