Half naked? you mean when we're swimming? Personally if I saw pictures of my doctor or dentist enjoying time with his family I could care less. You might think it's not your cup of tea but that's your opinion. I'm not censoring my life so that his clients don't get offended. If he's a good Veterinarian (Which he is) then his clients will still come to him. Thanks for your "advice" but I think I'll pass :)

It's all about utlizing the natural light! My son's first birthday pictures I recently posted on my blog were taken in Utah...it really is about utlizing the natural light availible to your advantage and to expose the picture correctly. A lot of beginning photographers tend to under expose their pictures because they don't know how to set their exposure correctly. WB does play a small roll in the lighting but I would say exposure of natural light is key to getting great lighting in pictures. Keep your WB on auto for the most part and just learn how to expose correctly. Then once you're comfortable with exposure you can change your settings of the WB around should you desire.

Your kids seem to enjoy your family so much and you've mentioned that you guys aren't close to Brett's family. I was wondering why you chose to move to CA instead of UT?

First let me clarify something...I know I've never said that we aren't close to Bret's family...because that would be a lie. We see his older sister the most out of his siblings but that's because she lives close by. His other siblings we try and see when we can (and they can) and also keep in touch with them via text, phone, Facebook, email etc.

Bret's siblings and extended family are wonderful people and we love them all dearly. The relationship with his Dad and step-mom isn't ideal and is always a work in progress, but still I know I have never said his family and our family aren't close and if it was implied in any way I apologize.

Phew...glad to get that clarification out there :)

We moved to California because it's where his best job offer was. We also moved here because Utah doesn't pay Veterinarians well and after being in Vet school and racking up some lovely student loan debt being paid better allowed us to pay on our student loans, where if we moved straight to Utah after graduation paying student loans and having a house would just not be possible.

We love California and what it has to offer. It's not that far from Bret's sister and extended family (Aunts, Uncles, Cousins) in St. George and my family in Provo. It has Disneyland and the beach. It was a great choice for us.

I always said I would never want to live in California and am very surprised that this is where we are living, but we love it here...for now.

We do hope to get back to Utah sooner rather than later and have had a couple job offers out there already...but for now we know it's best to stay out here in California for the time being.

Quick question for you - where did you get that AWESOME toy storage unit in the backround of the pics with the kiddos - the one that has the pull out plastic bins?? LOOVE that!

I got it from IKEA last year. They still have it there. We LOVE it. I wanted it to match the wood floors and our wood cabinets so I painted them (bought them unfinished). we wanted a place for the kids to play under the window so we got two low storage unties and put padding on top for a place to sit and play. Then got to tall ones to put in the corner. The whole unit takes up one whole wall in our playroom.

I don't know if I ever took a picture of the finished wall but here's a post that gives you a better idea as to what it eventually looked like:
And a picture from another post of the low "benches":
